TERMINUS-First Demo(TPPL-1984-UK)+Catalogue of Crimes(TPPL-1985-UK)+Body Count(TPPL-1986-UK)

I wrote already about Terminus when I posted the tape Hands Up For An Early Grave and after that post I managed to get in touch with Mark of Terminus and  exchange with him very interesting emails!
This is in fact the first post on this blog in which I am posting  some tapes that are not part of my collection,in fact those tapes were kindly donated to me by Mark and  were  digitalized by Pete(Terminus drummer) in 2003.
For the people who does not know Terminus, this was an amazing band from Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire(UK),active from 1983 until  2001!!
Somebody described their music as a creative mix between Political Asylum with Motorhead, not sure if they are happy with this definition anyway this do not apply to their acoustic songs so you might want to check yourself.
For all you curious people to know more then you can check their very good web site, here you can read about their biography, discography and interviews + more related issues.

On those tapes  you will find additional live tracks  that were not included on their original demos but were added later by Pete, you will find all the info in the folders,I just added the info that Mark included in his emails.
As far as I know those tapes are not available since quite a long time and I am very happy to have the possibility to share them  here.
A very big thanx to Mark  for his generosity and kindness and  a big thanx to Pete as well for the digital transfer`s work.
Enjoy it!!!!

Off With Her Head Promotions Flyer (UK-1991)

"The gig in question: Earth Citizens/ Pszychisz Terror/ Duckwind, The Queens Hotel, Scunthorpe, Saturday 25th May 1991

Two 'punk' bands from Switzerland, Pszychisz Terror, apparently, refused to open their luggage at customs and got turned back. "More Cider!" was Fritz, EC's guitarist's refrain between each song: Dry cider - the drink of the Gods he had just discovered and proceeded to drink to excess! Slotted in well with the locals.

Duckwind was a band formed from members from local psychedelic band Duck In Fog in order to play Hawkwind tracks; this included Col Spence on bass, who played in Terminus and was also a member of DIF before joining us - and Mick Hare on drums, obviously a Terminus drummer -  Rocky, also played guitar in DIF before playing in Terminus for a short while, and vocals would have been Graham Davis - DIF's vocalist.  "  (Mark Terminus)

TERMINUS -hands up for an early grave - (one side c60-diy-1991-UK)

Terminus was an English band active from mid 80s to mid 90s .They released few 7inches and 2 lps on Words of Warnings Records and TPPL Recs.
On 2003 a retro compilation came out as cd with the best of their songs.
This tape is totally diy, recorded live  in  their practise room with a 4 tracks recorder.
Their music is a clever form of classic melodic HC punk with political lyrics, this tape is instead acoustic and somehow reminds me some of classic english folk and some apocalyptic folk from the northern countries.
Yet it`s not listed on discogs and I never seen it on the net.
I reckon there are not so many copies of it around and it`s for me a little pearl of the underground from the 90s.
Enjoy it.

TERMINUS-Hands Up For An Early Grave-[Re-Issue-Best Sound Quality]-(K7-TPPL-UK-1992)

I have posted this tape 9 years ago when I started this blog, that rip was not the best,so I finally re-digitised this tape and now you have a  better sound quality and since this tape is very difficult to find I decide to leave these tracks as waves.

The followers of this blog should know Terminus as I have, already, posted a few rarities by this amazing band. In fact, after posting this tape I got in touch with Mark(the singer & guitarist), who kindly passed on to me a few other tapes to share here.

For the people who missed all the other posts then I just copy and paste the introduction taken from their excellent webpage, I invite you to visit it to read more about this great band, you`ll find there interviews, discography, biography and more.

To finish this small introduction,a very big THANX to Mark for all his help and kindness.Enjoy this rare and fantastic tape, this time with great sound quality.

:f(a*r~a)w_a¬y click me

for those of you who don't already know (and that will be most of you I would think), TERMINUS are/ were a long serving 'punk-rock' band from the Steel Town of Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire and have been described
in the local press as anything from 'local rockers', 'indie-speed-doomsters' to (with tongue stuck firmly in cheek
)
a 'psychedelic biker band'! None of which fits with singer Mark Richardson's description of the band as "Punk Rock, not punk-rock."

Elsewhere, in fanzine reviews of gigs and records, comparisons have been drawn between such diverse bands as the Damned, Dead Kennedy's, Conflict, Naked Raygun, Bad Religion, "Motorhead meets the Mob", and "a cross between Hawkwind and the Subhumans." The vocals to such unlikely folk as Jake Thackary, Billy Bragg and Oi Polloi (in the same German review!), Dave Vanian and Animal (from Anti Nowhere League and again both in the same review) and even Richard Butler and Bauhaus! Needless to say the band themselves consider all such comparisons dubious and the possible result of alcohol abuse. More likely is the simple fact that, although charges of inconsistency and idleness would certainly stick, they could never be accused of being as musically one dimensional as many of their contemporaries.

What follows is a brief history of the band compiled by longest serving member and founder of the band, Mark, for the information of those who have and still show an interest in the bands past and, who knows, maybe present activities.

TERMINUS-Live at Queens Hotel-Scunthorpe-19.03.1988+TERMINUS-Live at Queens Hotel-Scunthorpe-19.10.1991-(Not On Label-c60-UK-1992)

Here two live recordings by the mighty Terminus,a band already covered in this blog,in fact I just love their music and attitude.I wrote about them when I posted the very rare tape Hands Up For An early Grave, after that post I got in touch with Mark(the singer/guitarist) and He kindly donated to this blog 3 other rare tapes First Demo(1984),Catalogue of Crime(1985) and Body Count(1986).
I am now very happy to share those two other jewels, two gigs at Queens Hotel in Scumthorpe, the recordings are pretty good and in fact this tape delivers us their full energy as live act.

v.a. - TOPY TV - Tribute To PTV - (TOPY TV-Italy-c60-1990)

I passed this compilation to Vita Ignes Corpus Lignum blog 3 years ago-that links is dead now-so I re-post it here with the review by Crepusculum--thanx Crepusculum!!!!!!
~f~a~r~a~w~a~y~

"thee extrication ov thee heirophanous wisdom hidden behind these sonorous sigils tis a burdensome act in and ov itself.. to attempt to give voice to what tis spoken so profoundly in it's own words runs thee risk ov tearing asunder thee magickal tapestry which has been woven.. some gleanings ov what tis apprehendible ov thee Italian branch ov TOPY tis better articulated here.. have yet to read THEE PSYCHICK BIBLE to know if it may offer more incites, and sadly have stored away deep in hidden archives TOPY Italy RsB Files.. perchance these shall see dark illumination here at some point.. what tis most readilly apparent tis that thee artists behind this compilation forced thee hand ov chance towards renditions ov hymns ov thee TOPY high priests Psychic Television!! whilst the cover scan tis not likely thee be(a)st edition out there- it tis divined that most out there shall still revel in these ecstasic homages unveiled within!!

Thee Temple Beat tis a variation ov thee moniker for thee projekt Templebeat which tis composed ov thee artists: Michele Benetello, Pietro Zanetti [Metal Music Machine!!], Giorgio Ricci [RAN, Hysterie, Metal Music Machine!!], Paolo Favati [Die Larm, FM and Paolo F., Pankow, Saint Luka, Wave Workers Foundation..], and Rudi Dalla Mora [Metal Music Machine!!] who hail from Treviso, Italy!! their contribution tis an esoteric body music rendition ov the PTV classic Ov Power!!

it would appear info tis lacking for The Conventional.. though info for Frigidaire Tango tis more accessible.. their cover ov Just Drifting seems slightly more morose and definitely more heavilly accented and rock orientated..

Umano Troppo Umano - named for Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche 's Human All Too Human are absent ov biography here- thee peice which they provide here tis a slow dark dissonant variation ov Terminus with Italian vocals!!

Disuman Res was thee projekt ov Guglielmo Lanzilli who ran thee astonishing label Biotope Art Organization!! the piece Fear which he provides here consists ov his astounding patented darkened sound collage with plodding dissonant bass and murky magnetised crystalline atmospheres!!

Solar Lodge consisted ov occult sound artists Fulvio Biondo & Enrico Angarano!! their piece manifests in deliriously detuning synthesizer dissonances with minimal drum sequencing to thee tune ov Those Who Do Not..

thee assumption tis being made here that R. Biasin Acid Vampire tis a pseudonomynous nomenclature ov Stefano Biasin [Teatrino Della Volpe, S. Biasin Trio]!! thee piece consists ov some effing magnificent esoteric tekno in thee vein ov Towards Thee Infinite Beat- Drone Zone!!

"Therabaqud Leic is the name of an Italian experimental who has been involved with such forms as industrial, ambient, esoterick, drones, ritual, dark ambient, moody electronics, in a cross-genre . Luigi Russolo (a nickname reminding the famous Italian futurist artist ) is the main founder and core member. The band has never had a regular , real line-up, only Luigi Russolo is the core member." thee variation provided here ov Catalan consists ov excellent layers ov restrained percussion accompanied by astounding synthesizer atmospheres, and plodding distorted elektronik string looping with Italian vocal recitations!!

with a moniker like Jesus Fucks Magdalene - one must ponder how such a projekt has tragically fallen into such obscurity.. however occult ov origins and narrative there may be to this projekt- what tis apparent tis that they do an uber-funky and angsty variation ov Oedipus In The Nursery!!

thee personage behind thee projekt Majorana would appear to be one Lussetti Guido.. thee peice here Neurology seems to be a collage ov recordings ov thee Message From The Temple intercut with Charles Manson and Jim Jones amongst others.. throw in some looming synths and additional elektronikx and thee title appears to generate some pondering ov it's own..

elsewhere it tis written that Nekrophilia was Devil Womb aka DeviLs g. [Lvnvs, S. Biasin Trio, Teatro Satanico,..] & Saprophita [?]!! thee piece provided here Skinhead Moonstomp tis a cacopahnous conflagration ov colliding elekronik concussiveness with looming delayed guitar presences!! "

v.a.-While The Cat Is Away-(Media Tapes-UK-1989)

Very good sampler of solo artists compiled by Daz Lloyd for his label Media Tapes back in 1989. It features many good solo-acts : Dave Fanning and Andy Martin ,also involved in The Apostoles,Danbert Nobacon also involved in Chumbawamba ,Doom present in this sampler is not the famous crust punk band but it is a nickname for Mark Richardson involved in Terminus, Crag Milner previously of Declaration alongside Daz and Pete, also great tracks by the prolific Lord Litter. I have no info about Toshiyuki Hiraoka,Uncle Dick Fish and Statement. To complete this post I am adding the songtitles and a script by Daz included in the cover sleeve.

Big thanks to Mark Terminus for donating this tape to this blog and to PJL for passing me some info about the artists. Since this tape seems to be very rare I left these tracks as waves. Enjoy it.

v.a. - BUAV Benefit - (Buav-UK-199?)

BUAV stands for "British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection"! This extensive compilation tape features numerous bands active during the 1980s, primarily in the hardcore punk scene. It came out with a booklet, each band has a page containing lyrics, graphics and/or messages against vivisection. No date of release is stated anywhere, yet it is my understanding that it was released during the 90s. The quality of the recordings changes from song to song, as overall it is pretty good. Expect lots of HC punk in its various forms, some post-punk and Terminus playing some political folk songs. A big thanks to Mark Terminus for donating this great sampler to this blog. Enjoy it.

DAZ LLOYD-Bill Of Rights-(TPPL/DAZ-UK-1986) + Stand Up And Be Counted -(Media Tapes-UK-1987)

This is the first post about Daz Lloyd, an amazing artist from Scunthorpe, involved in Terminus and The Apostoles. Daz wrote and recorded also his own music, leaving to us 4 great tapes.

To make this post more informative I have asked his old mates to write some info about Daz. Unfortunately, he left this world very young. This post is dedicated to his memory and his excellent music. Big thanks to Mark for introducing me to such a great artist, to PJL for digitizing these old tapes and his nice words, and to his family for giving me permission to post his tapes here and on my Youtube channel.
Enjoy it.

:f*a/r^a¬w:a/y-

Bill Of Rights   Stand Up And Be Counted

Darren Lloyd (or - like every guy given that first name - Daz to his mates) first appeared on a stage in March 1985 as guitarist in The Demised,
a band he'd co-founded in his native Scunthorpe the previous year.  That band revised and expanded its line-up shortly afterwards, subsequently changing
its name to Declaration, but made no serious headway before breaking up in April 1986.

Over the following couple of years Daz released three cassettes: 'Bill of Rights', 'Stand Up and Be Counted', and 'The Circle'; each was a genuine solo effort with
all vocals, guitars and bass by the man himself (the title of an instrumental on the second tape - "Wot No Drums" - was based on a common reaction to his approach
of those who'd heard its predecessor).  Daz also popped up at a number of local gigs during this period armed only with his guitar (and voice) in a Billy Bragg stylee, but all of this was only half of the picture.

While a stint as second guitarist with established Barton band Aki (soon after Declaration's split) didn't work out, Daz subsequently remained a member of Terminus
for long enough to appear on the first of that band's generous handful of records.  He also joined the 'enigmatic' (and mainly studio-based) Scunthorpe outfit Murderous Musicians,
while a friendship with London-based punk band The Apostles (initially kindled through the post) led to a series of visits to their Hackney HQ -
and an 'exchange visit' by the band's Dave 'LAMF' Fanning to Scunthorpe to appear alongside Daz (and former Declaration drummer Pete) in a one-off outfit named
after the beloved Monty Python skit, The Piranha Brothers.

By the early '90s Daz had moved to London, maintaining his association with The Apostles by recording a fourth tape - 'Sic Syke', now complete with drums! -
at their HQ (with Dave supplying cover art, and fellow Apostles Muzz and Andy providing percussive assistance); it seems that Daz and Dave also reassumed their Piranha alter egos on occasion.
Over the next few years our contact was scant, limited to when our paths happened to cross during Daz's visits to his family in Scunthorpe, but his permanent return home in August 1997 seemed
to hold much promise - for one thing, it seemed that a 'reunion' of the Murderous Musicians was being discussed before he'd even had the time to unpack his cases.

Instead, Daz's relocation to Scunthorpe was followed only a few weeks later by his tragic death; he was days short of his thirty-first birthday.  He is still,
and will always be, remembered fondly by friends, regarded highly by those who'd shared a stage with him at any point, and much missed by all who knew him.  Rock on, Daz.

v.a.-PUNK IS ONE ALTERNATIVE(-c90-1992)+ v.a-PUNK IS...NON MACHO DANCING!(c90-July 1992)+v.a-PUNK IS...NOT A FASHION(c60-March 1993)-RESISTANCE PRODUCTIONS-Switzerland

Resistance Productions was a small totally diy and anarchist label based in Zurich first and then relocated to Biel (Switzerland).
It was managed by Fts,Pablo and Laura. They were active from the end of 80s since 94-95.
In their brief  but intense life they  self-released  lots of fanzines(No Sanctuary,Massive Love and more) leaflets and  tapes, mostly compilations + booklets.
Here  I am posting 3 of these compilations with the subject : "Punk is..."
In the one called "Punk is One Alternative" there are Pus,Toxic Narcotics,Infezione,In Anger,Deaf Aid,Blurred Vision,Victor`s Hoffnarren,Embittered,Morgue and more.
"Punk  Is Not Macho Dancing" offers us Earth Citizens,Forca Macabra,Rat Patrol,Alians ,Dawson, War system,Shock Treatment,Blurred Vision,Contempt,Scum,Selfish,Filthy Charity,Agent 86 + more.
"Punk is Not a Fashion"  contains Dread Messiah,Inkisicao,Natch and Nabel,Terminus,Vex, Flagrants D`Eli,Engrained,Chronic Core,Tbs...
All  those compilations were coming out with a small and nice booklet talking about their ideas about the title/subject of the  compilation and then every band had its own page where publishing lyrics, addresses and ideas/graphix..
About the music, well the titles say it all:those are diy punk tapes, you`ll find here a wide range of punk styles:HC punk, crust, grind,oi ...
The recordings have different qualities depending on the band and the  circumstances. Some are very good, some are very bad but  the creators of those compilations  didn`t care much-their aim was to spread  alternative ideas and counter-information.
All the booklets of those compilations are inluded in the folders with the tapes,so you can read more and  get a better idea.
Punk is...too many things together :)
Enjoy it...

No One Knows Anything is the fanzine (this issue in english) made by Michal Hazabura. He was running a distro and a label that became big in the coming years. The label is in fact the polish punk Nikt Nic Nie Wie label started in 1989 with the motto "podkładamy nogi tym, którzy nie chcą o nas słyszeć". ("We are sticking our legs out for those who do not want to hear about us to trip over.") Activities include distribution, organizing concerts, promotion of culture and independent music. Some of their releases include: Włochaty,[3] Oi Polloi,[4] Odszukać listopad,[5] Už Jsme Doma,[6] Apatia,[7] Chumbawumba, Crass. The first record issued by the label was Na Własne Podobieństwo by punk rock band Inkwizycja, making it the very first independent record release in Poland.(from Wikipedia). Here their official webpage.
In this  nice and well done issue  you`ll find interesting interviews to NoMeansNo,Trottel, inkurizycja,Terminus +Czecho -Slovakia report,Green Brigades Ecological paper,Polish punk report.
A very good fanzine to research the vibrant punk scene of the late 80s.

v.a.-Nothing To Lose...But Our Chains...(ABC/Counter Information-UK-199?)

90 minutes cassette compilation with lots of bands from the political British underground scene of the last century. It was a benefit for the Counter Information paper. The various recordings are pretty good, and there is very little information on the folded cover sleeve.

A compilation very much from that era mixing HC Punk, Dub, and generally anarcho-punk in its various forms. Big thanks to Mark Terminus for this little gem of the lost and found underground world.Enjoy It.

Illusion Of Safety · Life Garden · Voice Of Eye ‎– The Nature Of Sand - (Manifold Records-USA-1995)

Since 1983 Illusion Of Safety has been the ongoing project of Daniel Burke, working alone and with various collaborators. They have released over 20 CDs on labels such as Complacency, Die Stadt, Experimedia, Odd Size, Silent, Soleilmoon, Staalplaat, Tesco, and Waystyx, and played over three hundred concerts in Europe and North America. IOS' work has been called ambient, post-industrial, electro-acoustic, noise, sound-collage, improvisation, and power electronics, but they are unwilling to limit their work to any given style or method. The sonic character and affective substance of the music will often shift abruptly within each  recording and live performance.
Life Garden was formed in 1989 from the ashes of Maybe Mental whose two core members were David and Su Ling Oliphant. They invited poet George Dillon to the group, but tragically he passed away by the time when they released their debut "Caught Between the Tapestry of Silence and Beauty" (1991). Subsequently, Life Garden added Peter Ragan and Bill Yanok, who eventually departed in 1995. Life Garden broke up in 1999.
Voice Of Eye is the duo of Bonnie McNairn and Jim Wilson who began working together when Bonnie joined the avantgarde ensemble Cruor based in Houston (Texas). After Ure Thrall left Cruor, the other members continued on as the noise/industrial combo Esoterica Landscapes 7, eventually paring down to Bonnie and Jim who then changed the name to voice Of Eye. In the early 1990s, they collaborated with Ure Thrall's Terminus (2) project and recorded and performed as part of the short lived ensemble Asianova. (all the info ffrom Discogs)click me
