CYNOSURE*93 - (Self Released - c90 -199?)

Another mystery tape, this time from the collection of my friend Carsten Olbrich, musician and owner of the tape label Ebu`s Music, tape label  & mail-order established in 1988 and covered in this blog a few times. Carsten is still very active nowadays and you can read all the news and info on his actual webpage.

The music evolves in strange passages of electronic experimentation, touching the abstract, the industrial and somehow a hint of minimal techno. The recording is pretty good, yet the spartan cover sleeve reports no info, only the song titles. Anybody out there with some solid info about it? Carsten and I will be very happy to know more.

Big thanks to Carsten for donating to this blog this nice pearl from the crypt of the 90s. Enjoy it.

SANGRE DE ABAJO - Hasta La Ultima Gota De Sangre - (DIY-Mexico-2013)

This cassette is a pirate copy/diy release made in Mexico and it contains their demo released in 2008 + a few live recordings at the C.L.I.T. festival in Chicago in 2013.Their music is a raw/punch in your face HC punk with political lyrics. All Mexican girls living in Chicago. I have found some interesting info on Youtube which I C+P here. Enjoy It.

In 2007, Sangre de Abajo emerged from a need to challenge what punk meant at that time because we felt there was no cultural essence within the scene. From that burning need, we formed, here in Chicago, an all-female punk band of Mexican descent. It was with the purpose of filling that cultural void that we decided to incorporate the culture of the barrio and the ancestral Mexican culture with its Indigenous roots into our music. Sangre de Abajo is an all-female punk band composed of four members. Originally, our members consisted of Lupita (vocals), Martha (bass and backing vocals), Mariam (guitar and backing vocals), and Lupe (drums). In April 2009, we decided not to continue with the Sangre project for various reasons, but we continued to participate in the Chicago punk scene in other capacities. But we still saw an absence within the scene. So, because of that important need, Lupita, Martha, and Lupe got together in June 2013 with a new guitarist, Ara. The best way to describe our music is punk rock with old-school vibes. Our diverse influences stem from politics, Mexican punk, cumbia, hip-hop, and all the genres in between. We continue to learn our instruments and are determined to master them with the skills that allow us to evolve and improve our sound so we can continue to express ourselves.

DsorDNE - 24 O 25 Gru/o/mo - (Discordia/Hax - Germany/Italy -1994)

DsorDNE came from Torino, Italy and evolved as group out of the electronic experimental post punk project Novostj. The core of DsorDNE was Marco Milanesio, accompanied by singer Roberta Ongaro in the early years. Thus some releases are more like solo projects while others feature a full cast. Their spectrum ranged from Experimental to structured Electro Poetry and Soundtrack like Instrumental electronic music.
In 1987 they released the first track on a split-single shared with The Legendary Pink Dots issued with an edition of Snowdonia Fanzine which assured them some popularity.
After the 2nd Album, a mixture of electronic songs and a chapter of experimental electronica published as co-release between Hax and Discordia in 1994, releases got sparse and Marco went on mainly operating his studio full time as owner and technician, also the activities of the co-owned Hax label fizzled out during the mid-90's. The spirit of mail art is the total freedom.

Freedom of creation, ideas, concepts, limits, materials, techniques. Therefore,in substance of mail art is doesn`t have juries,it doesn`t have prizes r any type of classifications. At time,it is suggested to mail artists a subject,as it is the case. But given such freedom, all the proposals are respected and admitted. Also it was and it is the case.

The heading considered to the mail artists “Travelling/Viagens” was chose to try to translate the subject and the spirit of EUROLINE project. EUROLINE is an European Project supported for the Program Culture 2000 of The European Commission, with nine transnational partners, whose primary aim is toe create a line of cultural communication between as many countries and as wide a range of people as possible, including with social disadvantage and deficiency to work creatively in a series of challenging and exciting artists activities and events.

In result of all the invitations sent, it had answers coming from the 5 continents, on the part of 409 artists, representing 33 nationalities, in a total of 531 displayed works. In this genre of artists expression, the exhibition surely represents one of the carried through greaters already in Portugal, presented in the Museu Do Carro Electrico for the last three weeks of October 2002.

The event was organised by the Associacao Portuguese de Paralisa Cerebral(APPC) in Porto, who have previous experience in this form of art, in full connection with the EUROLINE partnership.
