L.A. CHOIX - Wild Oats - (Vox Pop/Point Zero-Italy-1991)

L.A.Choix was a project created by Stefano Concobeach and Valeria, in this great album, they are in the company of a set of fantastic musicians to create their unique style of independent/alternative rock mixing some tribal music, garage rock made of experimental sounds where avantgarde and psychedelia get mixed with their personal touch.

Vox Pop was an Italian alternative label founded in Milan in 1989 by Carlo Albertoli, Giacomo Spazio and Manuel Agnelli. It closed on 25th february 1997.Point Zero was an Independent label from Milan, Italy run by Stefano Faini.

 COMA stands for California Outside Music Association : a no profit organization focused on non-mainstream music,helping  musicians to get airplay and promotion outside the music business.

Lots of interesting bands in this piece of vynil: some "weird"prog-rock,some new wave ,some art-rock,some experimental,some future-pop,some avant-garde and similar fusions.

LUNACHICKS – Cookie Moshter / Complication-(Blast First-UK-1990)

 

Lunachicks are an American punk rock band from New York City.^[1] The band formed in 1987 and had been on hiatus since 2000,they reunited for a 20-minute set at CBGB's on April 6, 2002 with Benezra on guitar and English on drums.^[13] Another reunion took place at the March for Women's Lives Benefit in Washington, D.C. on April 24, 2004 as a four-piece with English on drums. In November 2019, the Lunachicks announced their first reunion in 15 years which they were set to perform two nights at Webster Hall in April 2020. v.a.-Sounds Blasts! EP2-(Sounds-UK-1989)

 Second ep released by the famous British magazine Sounds in 1989.It includes 4 fantastic bands from the post-hardcore scene of that era.

Sounds was a UK weekly pop/rock music newspaper, published from 10 October 1970 to 6 April 1991. It was well known for giving away posters in the centre of the paper (initially black and white, but colour from late 1971) and later for covering heavy metal (especially the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM))^[1] and punk and Oi! music in its late 1970s–early 1980s heyday.One of the trinity of British music weeklies, along with NME and Melody Maker, Sounds folded in 1991 after the parent company, United Newspapers, sold all their music titles to EMAP Metro. Morgan-Grampian had been acquired by United Business Media – then known as United News and Media – in 1987, first as part of the United Advertising Publications (UAP) division and later as part of the then CMP Information portfolio. A legacy of Sounds was the creation of the heavy metal/rock magazine Kerrang!, which was originally issued as a supplement before being spun off as a separate publication. OH` DEV-Don`t Push-(Eksakt Records-Holland-1986)

According to band members, the name comes from a populist 50ties Hollywood movie. The female ‘sexbomb’ drops the line “oh’ dev”.
Oh’Dev basic line up was Ruud – drums, Andre (Meer Staal) – guitar and Dirk – Bas. It could be that Dirk was not always in the band, but he played on the Limbabwe recordings. The vocalist could change. In the downloads below two different vocalists are mentioned: Harry (also guitar) and Hans.
The music is a kind of ‘noise-rock’ strongly influenced by Sonic Youth, Scratch Acid and such. Mostly I like bands in the style a-la Oh’Dev, but somehow I never seem to be able to listen through a full release of them. After two songs it starts to bore me and I lose interest. Andre’s guitar playing is based on no skills (he cannot play for real). Although creative in Meer Staal with percussion and vocals, on the guitar he seems to be limited and the noise becomes an assembled repeating structure that loses attention after 5 minutes. A funny anecdote to this is that Andre called himself after the guitar he played: ‘King Zolo’. A cheap piece of crap dumped by Sonic Youth.
Both vocalists didn’t manage to capture the listeners either.
Oh’Dev tried to ‘make’ it. They took every gig offered. Manage to do a few shows abroad and released more records on other, lesser underground than Limbabwe, indie labels. Despite what members try to make us believe nowadays, they never achieved a status in fame and creativity like some other Limbabwe bands (Meer Staal, Pandemonium,….). None of their releases sold for real. The band float(s) well on smooth bizznix talk from the drummer.

Irre Tapes was run by Matthias Lang which evolved out of the IRRE Fanzine he published regularly during the early 1980s covering New Wave, Post Punk, and the German Underground.

AMEN This Is Religgion N5 + F.A.R./RITMO TRIBALE Split Tape-(Fanzine+Tape-Amen Prod.-Italy-1987)

Here the fifth number of this legendary Italian fanzine focusing on industrial music, politics, arts and other interesting issues.In this number, a long article about Jenet, a discussion about university and politics, Nurse With Wound(the band), an interview to Coil, an article about depression,some poetries, few short stories, Test Dept interview and Joy Divison lyrics, Come Organisation and other great messages + astonishing graphic works.

This number came out with a split tape with two good acts:F.A.R.(Italian Industrial prime-movers, led by Mauro Guazzotti (later known as MGZ).and Ritmo Tribale (Italian Alternative Rock band from Milano formed in the mid 80's and disbanded around 2000.)

This is a classic of the Italian Industrial scene from the wonderful 80s.Do not miss it if you can read Italian language and if you don`t then you can always enjoy the music.
