v.a. - The Lowell Plan [Planned Obsolescence] - (Double K7-Statutory Tape-USA-1991)

A compilation dedicated to Lowell City in Massachusetts (USA).A double cassette exploring the various angles of the music scene coming from this city. Very ecletic, it offers to us some rock, a hint of punk, a few excursions into folk and country and some experimental tracks touching the electronic music and the avantgarde. It is worth reading the introduction by David Perry, which I am including here.Enjoy it.

Piume E Sangue-Non Prenda Quell'Espressione Stupida-(Hax-Italy-1992)

Piume E Sangue,in this tape, were G. Gasparin and Felice Spasavento,I have already posted other two tapes by this interesting project.

Non Prenda Quell`Espressione Stupida evolves in some musical experiments that reminds me avant-garde and neo-classic music mixing genius and bizarre cacophony.       f/a)r:a/w(a~y^ click me

Hax is an Italian experimental label run collectively by Massimiliano Gatti (Bekko Bunsen, Lunhare), Marco Milanesio (DsorDNE), Marco Pustianaz (Snowdonia), Guido Lusetti (Gregorsamsa) and Cristiana Bauducco.
Originally intended to be an outlet for DsorDNE and related material - music, video and booklets - it grew into a larger collaborative effort as more parties got involved after the publication of DsorDNE's debut album È Un Sole.
The style range expanded simultaneously from Electronic, Post-Punk, Experimental, Noise Rock to Modern Classical, Chansons, Avantgarde Folk, Alternative and Space Rock.

From 1987 's first release – a split Single by DsorDNE and The Legendary Pink Dots (for whom they opened during the Italian Tour) with an issue of Snowdonia Fanzine up to the later more diverse publications all Hax products where conceived as a labour of love backed up by day-time jobs and often packed in elaborate sleeves.
HAX ' autonomy reached new heights with the enhancement of Marco Milanesio's Acqualuce Studios in 1991 which led to an increased output. While he concentrated in a more professional environment on recording and producing the main distribution and pr work was done by Max Gatti, M. Pustianaz, and Cristiana Bauducco.
The HAX collective also worked as distributor and participated in co-releasing with like minded artists or labels i.e. Turin's Franti or the EMDA Label (En Manque D'Autre).(from Discogs)

THE EX-Rara Rap-(Lala Records-Holland-1988)

Dutch band, formed in 1979 in Amsterdam. Initially an anarcho-punk band, over the years they have incorporated many different musical styles such as jazz, noise, free improvisation, and ethnic/world music while still keeping a focus on anarchism, lyrically.

GRONGE-Concerto Al C.S.A. Udine-(Not On Label-Italy-1989)

This is an amazing tape documenting the live show of this fantastic band at the Social Squatted Centre of Udine(Northern Italy) on the 21st January 1989.
Try to describe the music by this great band is not easy, with thousands of various influences they play a very personal form of Avantgarde Art Rock, their live shows were explosive mixing improvisations and performances leaving the public struck with an assault of lights, costumes, body movements, improvisations and more genial ideas, changing all the time.
I was lucky to see them twice back in the 90s ,they blew everybody away. Their various productions are quite different music-wise,as well.
Indexing this tape was very difficult because many tracks are mixed up, it took me a long time and for whoever will get it then please read the notes that I have added. The recording is pretty amazing, delivering to us their full energy as a great live act.
To complete this post I am adding some info taken from a Wikipedia page dedicated to them + an old video from their Youtube Channel.
A very big thanx to Marco for giving me permission to post this astonishing live document.
Enjoy it.

History Of The Band

Born during the New Wave era but with a very original music idea, Gronge has been groundbreaking of many music genres that evolved in the following years.

The name of the band, that prefers to define itself as a musical collective, originates from the roman slang and it means a boxer apparently defeated but who still has the strength for his last punch.

Their music style is been defined by themselves as tecknopunkcabaret because they mix in their shows music and theatre. Among the first bands to include in their compositions some samples,

they have been an epiphany for important Italian bands like Zu.

They have been, together with Franti from Turin, the first to propose the DIY/self-production in Italy.

Gronge, that from 2014 change its name in Gronge X, are still active.

In 2015 They have published a CD titled Manuale Di Imporvvisazione Per Giovani Socialisti released on Danze Moderne label.

Between 2015 and 2016, the Again Records reprints all their discography of the 80s and the 90s in two double cd.

W.O.O.-Hung On Fanatics-(Self Released-USA-1993)

Recorded mostly with a sony walkman and few tracks with an 8 tracks recorder this tape by W.O.O. offer us a mix of futurist weird extravaganza noises melting avant-garde,space  rock and more cool improvisations. The songs are all mixed together therefore I didn`t index it.
Bonnie Kane(saxophone,electornics,direction,nerve)+Jim Fourdiadis(bass,piano,pecussion,vocals)+Eak(vocals,words,insipration)+
Race Age(drums, piano, percussion and baking vocals) made a perfect NYC super band of experimental art rock.
Good recordings and few useful info on the cover sleeve.
Enjoy it.

ATTACKED BY WOLVES - Up A Bit From Down - (Destroy All Music-UK-1994-c30)

Another tape released by Destroy all Music, good enough I have found one copy of their catalogue so here I am going to copy what they wrote to introduce this tape on their catalogue.
"Attacked by Wolves-Up A Bit From Down(c30-£1.50)-some of the best stuff yet from this man,he creates crop circles of avant-garde which gradually stray temporarily into the fields of avant-rock, like a cross of Factor X ,Small Things but mostly ZGA with runaway scuzz-honk.Don`t ignore..."
About this scottish label active during the 90s here what they wrote:
"Destroy All Music is a new kind of label specialising in lo-fi noise-art-punk-jazz-no-wayexperimental and anything with alternative edge or viewpoint.Destroy All Music is also a queercore label, written big and proud and wants confrontational bands ,so if you are in a band send us a tape or what you are just interested!!!"
