 A compilation dedicated to Lowell City in Massachusetts (USA).A double cassette exploring the various angles of the music scene coming from this city. Very ecletic, it offers to us some rock, a hint of punk, a few excursions into folk and country and some experimental tracks touching the electronic music and the avantgarde.It is worth reading the introduction by David Perry,which I am including here.Enjoy it.

TERMINUS-Hands Up For An Early Grave-[Re-Issue-Best Sound Quality]-(K7-TPPL-UK-1992)

 

 I have posted this tape 9 years ago when I started this blog, that rip was not the best,so I finally re-digitised this tape and now you have a  better sound quality and since this tape is very difficult to find I decide to leave these tracks as waves.

The followers of this blog should know Terminus as I have, already, posted a few rarities by this amazing band. In fact, after posting this tape I got in touch with Mark(the singer & guitarist), who kindly passed on to me a few other tapes to share here.

For the people who missed all the other posts then I just copy and paste the introduction taken from their excellent webpage, I invite you to visit it to read more about this great band, you`ll find there interviews, discography, biography and more.

for those of you who don't already know (and that will be most of you I would think), TERMINUS are/ were a long serving 'punk-rock' band from the Steel Town of Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire and have been described
in the local press as anything from 'local rockers', 'indie-speed-doomsters' to (with tongue stuck firmly in cheek) a 'psychedelic biker band'! None of which fits with singer Mark Richardson's description of the band as "Punk Rock, not punk-rock."
     
     Elsewhere, in fanzine reviews of gigs and records, comparisons have been drawn between such diverse bands as the Damned, Dead Kennedy's, Conflict, Naked Raygun, Bad Religion, "Motorhead meets the Mob", and "a cross between Hawkwind and the Subhumans." The vocals to such unlikely folk as Jake Thackary, Billy Bragg and Oi Polloi (in the same German review!), Dave Vanian and Animal (from Anti Nowhere League and again both in the same review) and even Richard Butler and Bauhaus! Needless to say the band themselves consider all such comparisons dubious and the possible result of alcohol abuse. More likely is the simple fact that, although charges of inconsistency and idleness would certainly stick, they could never be accused of being as musically one dimensional as many of their contemporaries.
     What follows is a brief history of the band compiled by longest serving member and founder of the band, Mark, for the information of those who have and still show an interest in the bands past and, who knows, maybe present activities.

STEVE GREEKSHIRE-Worms-(Mini-CD-Self Released-UK-201?)

Steve Greekshire is a musician hailing from Leeds and playing his own rather weird yet genial and personal music mixing various styles. 

These 5 tracks, that make up the album "Worms," are a mixture of eccentric and off the wall songs, mixed in with psychedelic, folk and hard rock.

Here a small introduction is taken from his FB page.
"Hey ho and Hello to all.
I am a musician and occasionally a visual artist and I am one who likes to challenge his own as well as others, conventions, perceptions, and values. This can be expressed in both playful, as well as an aggressive manor.
If I didn't, or could not do this, I would get bored with myself and would have to accept a dull world, which is always eager to swallow one up.
My music and material are sometimes Bizarre, Surreal, Eccentric, Comical and Off The Wall, because it pleases my sense of things as well as, it helps me, and others to laugh.
Sometimes though, I t can be quite different and more straight forward and express light Summery, or Dark Folk Ballads
It can also contain strong elements of Experimental, Psychedelic Heavy Rock and Blues and angry aggressiveness.
I get a kick in finding new ways of strengthening emotion and dynamics in my work and I like to evoke atmospheres and mental pictures that appeal to the imagination of my audience, as well as questioning and giving a friendly poke, that prompts them to question our daily reality and values.
It healthy for us to all rock each other's boat every so often!
I sing stories as well as create sounds and audio pictures. I have different approaches to my music which is governed by a theme, story or mood.
Sometimes I have to vent my anger and give myself a voice at the powers that be, through a serious protest, or a satirical song or three.
Thanx to those who persevere in freeing themselves of the mental shackles of dogma and convention and seek to exercise imagination, cause you give me hope and inspiration.
Ok. you've got the Blerb. Now bugger off and enjoy my works and fumbles,if you can."

v.a.-Which Side Are You On-Music For The Miners,From The North East-(Which Side Recs-UK-1985)

Compilation released on vinyl and cassette with songs and music made in support of the miner's strike 1984-85. It did include a poster, a booklet & leaflets. (scans provided here)
