v.a.-Les Mysteres Des Voix Vulgaires-(Divergo-Italy-1990)

This is an amazing sampler mixing various artists playing different stuff:art-rock, free jazz, contemporary improvisations, ethnic music, weird folk and so on. 

It was an international benefit initiative in support of 'A/Rivista Anarchica', a pacifist and anarchist monthly magazine published regularly in Italy since 1971.

It was released with a 30 A5 pages booklet with info about the bands/artists and their contributions (all the relevant scans included here).

v.a.-Which Side Are You On-Music For The Miners,From The North East-(Which Side Recs-UK-1985)

Compilation released on vinyl and cassette with songs and music made in support of the miner's strike 1984-85. It did include a poster, a booklet & leaflets. (scans provided here)

AMADAN-The Black Sow`s Erse-(Horse`s Playboy-Irland-1992)

Amadan was a band from Belfast (Northern Ireland) playing a kind of Irish traditional music sometimes mixed with pop rock.Professional musicians and a good studio recording complete this great tape where the folded professionally printed cover sleeve reports address, lyrics and info.

Unfortunately, the internet doesn`t seem to help me to find more info about this old band, you might be luckier.

In the meantime enjoy their great tunes.

SABIR-Fones-(Self Released-Spain-2004)

"SABIR was the lingua franca spoken in the Mediterranean ports during the medieval times, a language based on Catalan, Greek and Arab elements among others.It was born like a kind of natural progression due to the socialising of the merchants for whom the sea had become their home; people from many different cultures who were shaping their need to be understood by means of this new born language.
SABIR gives us the image of the two furthest pillars in the Mediterranean sea: on the one part we have Greece, cradle of the Western civilisation, and on the other shore the Iberian land. Two places that define the ends of the sea shared by these two lands through which, from the ancient times, sailed the ships of merchants, pirates, romantic travellers and all kinds of adventurers. These people had turned sea shore settlements into culturally rich villages and were participating in this exchange of experiences and ways of understanding and living with other lands. In a similar way the three members of the Greek-Spanish group SABIR include into their repertoire traditional pieces from Mediterranean countries, as well as others which are original compositions but still strongly influenced by the traditional music of the Balkans, Persia, Greece, Flamenco or Western Medieval music.
In a concert of SABIR ancient and oriental modes are merged with asymmetric rhythms and improvisations performed with instruments such as the Indian tabla, the hurdy-gurdy (mediaeval bowed string instrument), flamenco guitar, the santoor (Persian psaltery), saz (Turkish lute) or the zarb (Persian percussion instrument).(from youtube)
As far as I know they are part of  L`ham De Foc   one of the leading groups of a new folk movement in Spain that works the traditional roots into a new modern music concept.

BELLADONNA 9 CH-Maree Haute-(BD-France-1993)

A great duo formed by Michele Coudiou and Agnes Royon Lemee playing a strange music mixing  nice folk/cumbia,electro-pop,country,and new wave reminding me some music for the cabaret and  theatres soundtracks.

Very original and at the same time very catchy their tunes are just wonderful.This tape is old but they are still alive and kicking,you can read more on their actual webpage and this is their youtube channel where you can see their colourful performances.

ALFREDO SALERNI-Epilogo(Self Released-Italy-1995)

"Alfredo Salerni :an anarchist who wrote pamphlets and books about the anarco-skepticism back in the 90s.
He used to hang around with the punks in Perugia and Rome (Central Italy).
He plays some classic Italian folk songs revisited by him with some very sarcastic lyrics.
The CD Epilogo is a kind of the end of an era for him as musician, hence the title: "epilogue": songs that he played from the 60s to the 90s and eventually he recorded them back in 1995, year in which this CD was released as a completely DIY production.
He used to give his own productions (books and music) for free to his friends and people around him.
This cd is definitely a little gem for the lovers of obscure folk music from around the world.

And yes it is pretty rare." Some mixed real and fictional info here,all those songs are of his onw pen,In fact those are not folk songs but his own songs,He mantains a very personal style...yet recalling some of the traditional folk italian music.The fact that He was hanging around with punks and writing and  diffusing @skeptisism phamplets is indeed true."I see this cd as a tombstone.The music,for me,it doesn`t exist anymore.More than 100 songs with the same 4 musical notes.30 years singing those tunes with my friends..."This and more Alfredo writes in 1995 to announce his departure from the music world but then things change and here a video of him singing one of those songs more than 10 years after on the other side of the world.A great cd for the lovers of obscure folk music with a subtle anarchist twist.Enjoy it.~f*a~r*a~w*a~y¬ click me
