NUCLEAR SIMPHONY - Choir Of Disperation - (Self Released-Italy-1987)

  Italian Thrash Metal band from Favara (Agrigento) / Palermo, Sicily, formed in the mid 80's.
The band was founded in 1982 under the name Galax and consisted of singer and guitarist Gino Pecoraro, drummer John the Crash and bassist totem. Until 1986, the band released the first four demos with The First Battle, The Blood, Feud of the Dragon , The Dragon's Death and Big Final . After several changes of the band, the first performance of a Sicilian pop music festival followed in 1985. In 1986, the band changed its name to Nuclear Simphony. In the same year followed with One Day We'll All Be the Same a first demo, of which the Titellied on the Sampler Metalmaniac could be heard. In March of that same year, The Reality ... So Near ... another demo followed by Ciro as another guitarist. In 1987, Choir of the Desperation joined the next demo, whereby the band reached a contract at Discomagic Records . Then the band went to Germany to record their debut album Lost In Wonderland. The recording consisted of guitarist and singer Gino Pecoraro, guitarist and bassist Ciro and drummer Giovanni. TERMINUS & DAZ LLYOD - Live At Bentleys 18th Dec 86 -(TPPL-UK-1987)

 

The followers of this blog should be familar with Terminus,a band born in 1983 and active till 2001.I have,in fact, posted many of their tapes. I have been in touch with Mark (the singer-guitarist) for a few years now and he kindly passed to me some rare stuff both by Terminus and by other old artists,one of them being the fantastic Daz Lloyd.

I just want remind you all to visit their excellent webpage where you can read about their history, discography, gigs, friends and much more.Funny enough this tape is not listed in their webpage.It is, yet, a great tool documenting the energy and the passion coming out from their live shows.

BAD BRAINS - Live In Amsterdam (28/5/87)-(Watergate Tapes-USA-1987)

Bad Brains are an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C., in 1977. They are widely regarded as among the pioneers of hardcore punk,^[1][2][3] though the band's members have objected to this term to describe their music.^[4] They are also an adept reggae band, while later recordings featured elements of other genres like funk,^[5] heavy metal,^[1] hip hop and soul.^[5] Bad Brains are followers of the Rastafari movement.[5(from wikipedia).

Watergate Tapes was a label created by Jeffrey Surak, who was also recording as 1348 and Violet (2) Later resurfaced as Zeromoon, which is offering many of old releases by Watergate Tapes in mp3 format.(from Discogs)

SEKAANNUS– Eksyneet (Stigma-Finland-1987)

Born 1983, and recorded multiple EP:s in 80's and did gigs around Finland with many legendary bands of time. Faded away 1989, and was resurrected from kiljusammio in 2008.
After that have done gigs and split ep & lp with Massacre, and split ep with Abortti-13.
2013 Sekaannus recorded Lp in Blackfloyids studio. There was limited cassette mini LP released from session 2015. (from their Bandcamp Page)   click me

ATTANAS - Joulupukki-E.P. - (Hätäapu Records-Finland-1987)

 

Attanas was a punk band of the late 1980s in the city of Tampere, Finland. Or from a place called Lentävänniemi in northern Tampere, to be more exact  Attanas, the band itself and their closest friends were members of a local youth club, "Lentsun klubi". From those youths was to become a band that wanted to tell what they thought of matters surrounding them without asking anybody. Also, they played their music just as they wanted, with no regrets. Influences were drawn first mainly from 77-punk but later there can be found similarities with hardcore or even speed metal. Not to forget about alcohol and its consumption. Though Attanas released four records, three 7" EP's and 8 tracks on a compilation album "Stop Vivisection - Use Yuppies", they never toured or even did too many gigs. The main reason for that was that they really didn't care too much to leave Lentävänniemi. (info from LastFm )  click me

 

 
 

DAZ LLOYD-Bill Of Rights-(TPPL/DAZ-UK-1986) + Stand Up And Be Counted -(Media Tapes-UK-1987)

This is the first post about Daz Lloyd, an amazing artist from Scunthorpe, involved in Terminus and The Apostoles. Daz wrote and recorded also his own music, leaving to us 4 great tapes.

 

To make this post more informative I have asked his old mates to write some info about Daz. Unfortunately, he left this world very young. This post is dedicated to his memory and his excellent music. Big thanks to Mark for introducing me to such a great artist, to PJL for digitizing these old tapes and his nice words, and to his family for giving me permission to post his tapes here and on my Youtube channel.

Bill Of Rights   Stand Up And Be Counted

 Darren Lloyd (or - like every guy given that first name - Daz to his mates) first appeared on a stage in March 1985 as guitarist in The Demised,
a band he'd co-founded in his native Scunthorpe the previous year.  That band revised and expanded its line-up shortly afterwards, subsequently changing
 its name to Declaration, but made no serious headway before breaking up in April 1986.


Over the following couple of years Daz released three cassettes: 'Bill of Rights', 'Stand Up and Be Counted', and 'The Circle'; each was a genuine solo effort with
 all vocals, guitars and bass by the man himself (the title of an instrumental on the second tape - "Wot No Drums" - was based on a common reaction to his approach
 of those who'd heard its predecessor).  Daz also popped up at a number of local gigs during this period armed only with his guitar (and voice) in a Billy Bragg stylee, but all of this was only half of the picture.

While a stint as second guitarist with established Barton band Aki (soon after Declaration's split) didn't work out, Daz subsequently remained a member of Terminus
 for long enough to appear on the first of that band's generous handful of records.  He also joined the 'enigmatic' (and mainly studio-based) Scunthorpe outfit Murderous Musicians,
 while a friendship with London-based punk band The Apostles (initially kindled through the post) led to a series of visits to their Hackney HQ -
 and an 'exchange visit' by the band's Dave 'LAMF' Fanning to Scunthorpe to appear alongside Daz (and former Declaration drummer Pete) in a one-off outfit named
after the beloved Monty Python skit, The Piranha Brothers.

By the early '90s Daz had moved to London, maintaining his association with The Apostles by recording a fourth tape - 'Sic Syke', now complete with drums! -
 at their HQ (with Dave supplying cover art, and fellow Apostles Muzz and Andy providing percussive assistance); it seems that Daz and Dave also reassumed their Piranha alter egos on occasion.
  Over the next few years our contact was scant, limited to when our paths happened to cross during Daz's visits to his family in Scunthorpe, but his permanent return home in August 1997 seemed
 to hold much promise - for one thing, it seemed that a 'reunion' of the Murderous Musicians was being discussed before he'd even had the time to unpack his cases.

Instead, Daz's relocation to Scunthorpe was followed only a few weeks later by his tragic death; he was days short of his thirty-first birthday.  He is still,
 and will always be, remembered fondly by friends, regarded highly by those who'd shared a stage with him at any point, and much missed by all who knew him.  Rock on, Daz.

Tito Trbina Tastiera Futurista is Luca Faraci, is an italian comic book author and novel author, best known for his cartoonist carreer involved in the famous Diabolik comic.

He started his music carreer in the 80's playing keyboards under the name of Tito Turbina Tastierista Futurista.

LORD LITTER-A New Magic In A Dusty World-(Self Released-Germany-1987)

 Another nice cassette by this guru of the cassette culture scene of the 70s/80s/90s until nowadays. I wrote about him when I have posted his tapes Space Age and The Place Where The World Collide and No More Rock `N` Roll.

His actual webpage offers to us his great amount of work both as a musician and as a DJ. Well worth checking out.

HENRY ROLLINS BAND-Live A Roma Forte Prenestino 21/09/1987-(Kontagio Produzioni-Italy-1987)

 Lo fi Recording of this legendary gig by Herny Rollins band at the famous Forte Prenestino squat in Rome.The recording isn`t the best and I would say that this tape is for the die-hard fans of the famous singer.

Kontagio Produzioni Tapes was a small distro releasing mostly live tapes recorded in this massive squat(probably the biggest in Europe).
Forte Prenestino is, in fact, a fort squatted on the end of the 80s and still alive and kicking.

LORD LITTER-No More Rock`n`Roll-(Self Released-Germany-1987)

Another great cassette by the eclectic Lord Litter, I wrote about him when I have posted his tapes Space Age and The Place Where The World Collide.

Here a quote by him taken from his actual webpage  where you can read about his history, releases, related projects and his incredible radio shows.

"I started releasing my music in 1984-"the cassette scene revolution" made it possible to record/duplicate/release/distribute from your living room. Whenever I had some songs finished that presented a certain period,

I released them with the help of an uncontrollable amount of small labels- all just there for the music-worldwide.

First on cassettes, later on CD-Rs. I never even tried to make money with my music by cooperating with any kind of "industry".

All in all, I really have no idea how many releases I have out. At the least 40 I guess, plus countless tracks on compilations, cassettes/vinyl /cd."

I.N.R.I. n1 + I.N.R.I. n2 - (Fanzine-Greece-1986 and 1987)

2 Issues of this rather obscure Greek fanzine focused on the early industrial music scene, the goth rock and the new wave.
Named INBI(translated INRI)the first issue was released in April 1986 in Athens, containing 32 A4 xeroxed pages. The second one was released in early 1987. The mastermind behind them was the painter Alexandros Dimitriades from Volos(Greece), a third issue was planned but never released, some pages were painted by hand after the printing.
The first issue contains an interview to Dead Can Dance, some lyrics by the Greek new wave band Koumpotripes A.E., the discography and biography of And Also The Trees, translated lyrics of Swans, Coil, Death In June, some music reviews, texts and poems by R.R. Hearse and a few more rants.

While the second issue offers to us a translated story of H.C. Andersen, some more poems and text by R.R. Hearse, an interview to Nick Cave, some astonishing drawings and some other poems and lyrics.
These very rare jewels were kindly donated to this blog by my friend Ion of the E.T.C. Group who also provided the very useful info about the subjects covered in these pages. 
A very big "Thank You" to Ion for sharing such amazing and rare zines.
These are only in the Greek language so enjoy them if you are Greek literate.

THE RIDE-Psicosi(demo)-(Self Released-Italy-1987)

The Ride was a Punk rock band from Milan, Italy formed in the early eighties. The band recorded only one 12” in 1986 and two demos in 1985 and 1987. 
A good tape for the lovers of certain old punk...

uMkhonto we Sizwe (Xhosa pronunciation: [uˈmkʰonto we ˈsizwe], meaning "Spear of the Nation"; abbreviated MK) was the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC), co-founded by Nelson Mandela in the wake of the Sharpeville massacre. Its mission was to fight against the South African government.^{[1] from Wikipedia)} 

This was a Benefit compilation LP for Umkhonto We Sizwe, the military wing of the ANC.It includes a 20-page booklet with articles and lyrics. Some copies also include a 'Viva Umkhonto' newsprint.

The selection of bands and tracks is just amazing including some of the best names from the lively international HC Punk scene of the fabulous 80s.
