STARFISH POOL - Remixed - (Silver Recordings-Belgium-1997)

The electronic project of Koen Lybaert - that evolved out of Starfish Enterprises - that was active between 1993 and 2003. Starfish Pool was working in the experimental area of minimal, rhythmic, ambient and noise in all its aspects. Since the very start it is the manipulation of loops - the basic idea of the way tracks were created as Starfish Pool. This concept that has nothing to do with the sound but more with the way that tracks where practically made. In 10 years' time Starfish Pool had more than 25 releases.

Silver Recordings : Label run by Koen Lybaert (Starfish Pool) for several years in the late 1990s alongside the Respect Wax label. Both are now defunct, as are all of Lybaert's labels U-Cover (CD releases) and Inc.us (vinyl releases), etc.(info from Discogs)   click me

STARFISH POOL - Interference `96 - (Nova Zembia-Belgium-1996)

The electronic project of Koen Lybaert - that evolved out of Starfish Enterprises - that was active between 1993 and 2003. Starfish Pool was working in the experimental area of minimal, rhythmic, ambient and noise in all its aspects. Since the very start it is the manipulation of loops - the basic idea of the way tracks were created as Starfish Pool. This concept that has nothing to do with the sound but more with the way that tracks where practically made. In 10 years' time Starfish Pool had more than 25 releases.

Nova Zembla was a sub label of KK Records in Belgium. Initially launched in 1993, releasing material licensed from the pioneering Australian trance label Psy-Harmonics.with artist's such as Zen Paradox, Lumukanda, Third Eye, and Shaolin Wooden Men,
As the label began to establish itself in the European tech-trance seen. new artist's were added to their line up, and the music became more diversified, and releases started to feature material that ranged from hard trance like Delta Plan and Bulbawee to sci-fi ambient like Starfish Pool and hard chill trance such as Self-Transforming Machine Elves. and Goa trance by Elysium, Rounding things off with artists like Worm, Black Lung, Xingu Hill, and Sympathy Nervous who were more techno oriented, and their material was more experimental or ambient in nature, rather than trance.
Label shut down in 2000. (all info from Discogs)  click me

Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia - Ov Biospheres And Sacred Grooves: A Document Ov New Edge Folk Classics -(KK Records-Belgium-1992)

Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia is a project of the Dutch electronic musician Reinier Brekelmans. Formed in the early ' 80, they came to light only when they converted to the "ambient house" scene with the single Exit 23 (1991), strong with a heavy beat and the voice of Timothy Leary that murmurs "return to the source ". Their art progressed with the individual Ov the Maenad (1991), which mixes world-music and techno, and Out Now. The album Ov biospheres And Sacred Grooves (Kk, 1992) was in the ORB's ambient dance music vein. (The album contains eight tracks distributed over four tracks.) The Challenge (eight minutes) presents a soft techno and veils of African polyrhythms, moved by Bubbles Electronic Linkage (starting at the minute 7:56) omits all the electronics and disintegrates those polyrhythms in the long wasteland of scattered noises of the Tides (starting at the minute 12:15). Anathema Ov Jean Jacques Derrillard (first song of the third track, about seven minutes) is instead a grubbing concert of subliminal music for noises, "treated" sounds and electronic buzz, from which the second part of the Challenge (at seventh minute) takes body, a kind of psychedelic soul deconstructed in a cubist manner, and then the Key (to the minute 14:17), a sort of paleohistorical Lambada, and finally the exuberant Batucada of New Edge Mantra (retail 20:36). The last track is a remix of eleven minutes of the single Exit 23. The album was taken from the monumental single obsidian (20 minutes), which was inspired by the first Klaus Schulze and the ambient music of Brian Eno. On the album is the second track (i.e. the fourth track), lasts only seven minutes and resumes the "African" techno with an electronic melody string. source: https://www.scaruffi.com/vol6/psychic...  -

CO-FUSION ‎- Co-Fu - (Sublime Records-Japan-1998)

Co-Fusion's debut, CO-FU, starts with the bass madness of "Strutin'"... and that's before the crazed horn sample comes in. "Zit'r Bug" has a sharper edge to it with its metallic overtones and insistent drum bass, while the breaks on "You Looking For" helps secure the swarming synths above it. The clattering percussion on "Cycle," as well, shows off their real strength: those beats. The metallic tones come back on "Dizzy," accompanied by a brighter melodic line, while "A.T.P." strikes a straight-forward 4/4. A perky electro creeps into "Early Summer Daze," and "Jungler Gray" brings in a thoughtful guitar in towards the end. A hint of funk enlivens "Wilbee Wilbee" and a bit of sci-fi spaciness whistles into "Five Forty." And "Torn Open" closes the album on a more pure note of funk, reappropriating some soundtrack horns to be placed into a series of quick breaks. There's no confusion with Co-Fusion. click me (review by scoundrel, published on Discogs July 16,2016) Sublime Recs Offical Webpage

IRD Recordings - In Rave Danger Volume One - (IRD Recordings -UK- 2021)

IRD - InRaveDanger, ItalianRaveDepartment, ImReadytoDrive, I'dRatherDance, ItsReallyDales, IrateRavingDickheads.. the list keeps going, much like the Sound System itself.

The first boxes were built in the summer of 2008 and stacked up in Barking with the paint still wet. Since then its been consistently out and about in some form or other. With Tekno in the fields and forests of the south of England, Live Bands and Broken-Beats in sweaty London offices, and lots of Hardcore in lots of warehouses all over the place.

Any excuse for a Knees Up; D.I.Y or Die.

From Scotland to Guinea-Bissau, Wales to Albania and a lot of places in between a massive amount of people have come together over the years to create these autonomous spaces for freedom, dancing and banging rave music. Its the people that make the party, Squatters, Dj's, Stewards, Artists, Drivers, Performers, Technicians, Producers, Gate-Keepers, Electricians, Legal-Observers, Urban Explorers and all the On-It Ravers who keep each other safe amidst the madness; but its the Music that brings us all together.

Core and Tek of different speeds and ferocities, Jungle, Drum/Drill and Bass in all its shape shifting forms. We try and pump the sounds that are not easy to find.

Its a quiet year so far but it will get louder. To kick it off we are launching our long awaited label IRD Recordings. Bringing together a whole host of producers and releasing the type of tunes that we have been playing all these years; namely up-tempo having-it rave music. Watch this space for the first of the digital releases dropping in the coming months with the Vinyl soon to follow.    click me

L. S. DIESEL / 2000 DIRTY SQUATTERS - Double Your Money Or Take The Mystery Prize-(Scrap Metal Records-UK-1995)

Amazing split 12" with 2 legendary projects coming from the very underground squatting scene of the 90s.
I wrote, already, about L.S. Diesel when I posted their classic album "Suicidal Dub" released by Charged in 1996.
2000 Dirty Squatters was a kind of European collective/band born in London on the end of the 80s, a long and detailed biography is here.
Scrap Metal Records was a sub-label of  Scrap Recs, the label founded by 2000 DS, their official webpage offers to us history, pictures, discography and related projects.
In this rare 12" LS Diesel shoot a splendid example of their very idiosyncratic style of electronic music mixing some peculiar hybrid of dub and techno with vocals while on the other side we`ll find the 2000DS playing their distinct and aggressive HC punk.
This is a classic vinyl documenting the great diversity and originality of certain obscure yet astonishing underground culture.
Enjoy it.
