KENO-Retroflex Ep-(Bandcamp-UK-2020)

“Retroflex" was a recording project developed by Keno throughout the coronavirus lock down period. What started out as an experiment in pairing electronic drums with electric guitars, soon became a 5 track EP. After sending ideas back and forth online, the music was recorded in a living room in Clapton.

As this recording project was approached as a one-off, there is no plans to use sequenced instruments live in the future, but it was an interesting experiment to utilise what was there at the time.

Any money generated by sales will be equally donated to two organisations that offer support to communities affected by social hardship and institutionalised racism. One is based in the UK and the other in Australia. We do not plan to recoup any money for the production costs of the tape etc.

v.a.-The Plot Thickens 2005 - (Coven H-UK-2005)

I wrote already about Hekate in  a  specific post about them  last year, unfortnately I still have to write about Random Artists even if I have been to many of their exhibitions held in London in the last 10 years.

This CDr was realeased for Hekate & RandomArtists exhibition of same name happening in Praha, CZ on 4th & 5th August 2005 (from 1 pm - 10 pm) at Twilight Zone record shop and B3 pub.

This sampler offer to us many musicians involved in Random Artists and Hekate playing breakcore,IDM and other shapes of electro-madness.

A nice cd from the very underground European electronic music scene of the last decade.

Enjoy it.

HOCICO-Autoagresion Persistente-(Self Released-Mexico-1994)

The Mexican group Hocico was officially formed in 1993 by Erk Aicrag (lyrics & vocals) and Racso Agroyam (synthesizer, programming).
The names are anonymous of the real names Erik Garcia and Oscar Mayorga. Both cousins had been experimenting with electronic music, mixing Industrial and EBM, since they were fifteen years old and formed a band in 1992 called Hocico de Perro. The first live gig of Hocico was on February 18, 1994. Their music can be described as dark and aggressive electro-industrial. Their lyrics are mostly English although some songs are in Spanish.
The Spanish word 'hocico' means snout and is a derogatory term that indicates ugliness (i.e., ugly as a dog's snout).(from Discogs)
Their official webpage is here.
Enjoy it.

Afghanistan is the astonishing project by the French artist Philip Chasset-a Discogs pages about him is here unfortunately with no much info about his activities.
In this great tape-work, Phil plays a raw form of electro-industrial. His cover version of The Wall by Pink Floyd is simply amazing.
This is an amazing tape for people into electro/cold wave and industrial music.
Enjoy it.

SMERSH-The Tuna Is An Ugly Fish-(Atlas King-USA-1986)

Beat studio guru Mike Mangino (Pink Noise, Pop-Tarts) and Chris Shepard (Pop-Tarts) formed Smersh as an experimental big-beat techno/industrial project and began releasing cassettes in 1981. Smersh recorded improvised cuts every Monday night, released countless cassettes on their own label, Atlas King, and were featured on more compilations than you can track down. They never played live, never played the same track more than once.(from Discogs)
Here a very interesting interview with Mike Mangino conducted by Dmitry Vasilyev in August 2000.
Atlas King was the tape label of Smersh, founded by Chris Shepard and Mike Mangino in 1981.
In 1994 the last tape was released.
The follow-up label is Mirandette Popular.
This is their official webpage where you will find lots of info, discography, and artworks.
Enjoy it.
