ROLLERBALL-Outlast The Game-(Disco Mix-Italy-1984)

First vinyl ep by this band from Florence active in the early 80s and coming from the very first wave of Italian Heavy Metal.
Here a review taken by Encyclopedia Metallum.

"Besides the fruity name, these Italian lads craft a pretty darn energetic early metal sound with this 1983 offering. The Florentine quartet has a distinctive sound about them; punk influence coming through with simplistic fast paced guitar/bass riffage – and a certain rough nastiness in the delivery of vocalist Maxx Bell. Italy actually produced a lot of good straightforward heavy/power metal bands in the early/mid 80s – bands like Berserks, Dark Lord and the unique Creepin’ Death are all worth checking out – and my most recent is this; the debut EP From Rollerball. The EP contains four tracks; three really because the first is merely a keyboard intro. Throughout these three – Rollerball builds an intertwining of earl power metal attitude (think the Queensryche and Sortilege debut EP’s), nasty early 80’s hardcore punk (US Style), in the vein of Adolescents or the Faction and spaced out reberbed to the hilt solos. An interesting and pretty unique sound indeed, with the high point perhaps being the drawn out epic ‘Escape’ with it’s drawn out operatic nature.
‘Escape’ is a serious, dark and moody track. The band sets about creating emotion and tension with some simplistic, depressive and sad keyboard notes – building impending doom and dark reflection in the drums and caustic guitar riffery. When things kick off in the second section, you’re driven in further by the emotional wails of Maxx Bell – showing his prowess in the high notes, screaming like Augustine from Sortilege, but adding a nasty, guttural shrieking quality to it. The many different sections in this song build emotion, which again erupts – in a speedy guitar solo (too bad you can barely hear it due to horrendous, paper thin production). The chorus chants at the end though – are fucking excellent – totally haunting in quality and teaming excellently with the depressive, epic guitar riffs. By the time this furious, dark power metal attack is over you’ll be making the same Sortilege comparisons I do.
The bands title attack ‘Rollerball’ is a rough and ready punk rock assault – featuring lightning fast guitar/bass structure, drums that would be pounding if you could hear them through the shitty mix, and totally harsh vocal assault of Bell – sounding a bit unrefined in this one. While his verse delivery is rough and nasty, in his high pitched gnarly voice – the cool little punk rock chant section again – is the high point. Both the mentioned songs make use of a great little vocal section right before the end – deciding to add something new rather than simply repeating the chorus. This one and the stupidly titled ‘Do You Know Alan’ are rougher efforts on vocals and guitar – but have some cool nastiness in both. You cant hear the guitar leads for bollocks
though – lame.
The Italian bands of the period actually produced some awesomely unique stuff. They all have weird, experimental qualities about them – which you wouldn’t expect. In Sweden, the Low Countries and Germany – most bands seemed to be pretty much playing in the style dictated by the Brits, but often down here – the bands are going for something pretty different – retaining little of the formulaic qualities of NWOBHM. This one is no exception. Particularly in the spooky, and sad ‘Escape’ these guys have a rough, unpolished caustic feel – totally unique, with it’s crunchy, buzzsaw guitar and high shrieks reminiscent of Sortilege or early Queensryche – without the polished qualities. Totally worth hearing this one on account of the track ‘Escape’ – but only contains three songs, and only one of really high quality. I dunno, if you’re like me and like collecting the older stuff – but want the occasional record that sounds different – give this one a spin, but I warn you – it’s not for those afraid of rawness in sound or production. Dark, moody power metal and mashed together here. "

v.a.-ONE HUNDRED-(Audioexit Records-Hungary-2016)

I sincerely can not remember how I `ve stumbled upon AudioExit Recs Bandcamp a couple of months ago, I certainly remember that I was soon struck by the quality of the music/artists proposed by this interesting techno netlabel from Hungary releasing great underground electronic music from around the world, altogether with their long history.
I decided, therefore, to get in touch with them and check if they were interested in co-operating with my blog. Here you`ll find a short yet very interesting history written by the headmasters of this label plus related links. The long and well-done compilation ONE HUNDRED is a landmark to celebrate 100 Audioexit Recs productions and at the same time a step further towards some changes too.
A big thanx to Robert & Tamas for their contribution.
Enjoy it.
~f(a*r)a^w_a*y)
 Here a brief history:
"Audioexit Records was founded back in 2007 by two Hungarian producers, who wanted to create a platform to release their own music but the project evolved fast to host some very talented raising artists and deliver uncompromising underground music to the world. The aesthetic of the label was continuously developed keeping the quality in focus and since the releases came out as a free download, no compromises had to be made regarding what kind of music is released. This resulted in a strong presence for the imprint in the world of netlabels and became well respected and appreciated.
After 9 years of operation and 100 releases, the two founders decided to take a step further and go into the world of physical releases and closing an era which was very beautiful and productive and opening a new one which could be even more successful. This new era started in 2017 with the first cassette release of Audioexit, deploying well-known artists beside local talents and presenting the same uncompromising sound of electronic music what the label was always known for. Continuing with more physical outputs the label wants to be a strong pillar in the underground music scene"

TRANCE/DAVID S. HASTINGS-Unyielding Firmament/Toy Box[Split Tape](Sounds For Consciousness Rape-France-1993)

Trance is Mason Jones. The earliest musical entity begun by Mason was called Trance. Starting in 1987, recordings under the name Trance were released on a number of small-edition cassettes, followed by CDs and singles. As a live venture, Trance included other participants over the years, including Elden M., Annabel Lee, Sam Lohmann, and others. Live collaborations under the guise of Trance included shows with Jim O'Rourke, Joe Papa, The Evolution Control Committee, and many more. The name "Trance" was retired after the word became inextricably intertwined with bad electronic music. His actual webpage is here.
No info about David S. Hastings.
Sounds For Consciousness Rape is a defunct French label active in the early '90s in the industrial/noise area and well-known for its limited edition releases.

Rejected Band Names #7 "Big Wheel"-(Fanzine-Usa-2001)

This is the personal fanzine by Jerianne Thompson, the editor of Zine World: a fantastic zine guide active for more than 10 years, I have posted the number 17 and number 18.
This issue named "Big Wheel" is the full true story of her sister`s death and all the facts happened soon after, her personal grief, depression and dealing with "the everyday life" after such a great loss.
I have found it very touching and, at the same time, somehow inspiring.
To finish I am going to attach the introduction that Jerianne wrote for this issue.
This is Underground Press at its best.Amazing fanzine.
Enjoy it.

DIGOS GOAT-Testimoni Del Silenzio-(Furtcore Records-Italy-1990)

"Italian Hardcore-Punk band from Cermignano, Teramo formed in 1983 and active till 1992. Their first album "Il Delirio" was out on 1988 and was live-recorded through a 4-channels recorder: pressed on 600 copies, the album received an excellent feedback from the Italian and foreign Hardcore circuit. 1990 was the year of the second album: "Testimoni Del Silenzio". More edited in sound and recording is considered an abnormal record, certainly because of the arrangements, sounds, and texts influenced by a particular period of band members.
At the end of 2011, they came back to the studios recording a new self-produced E.P. "Stille" which projected the band to a new spirit."
