VOICE OF DESTRUCTION-The Seventh-(Blatant Records-South Africa-1992)

Formed in 1986 as a punk band in Cape Town by guitarist Greg McEwan Marriot, V.O.D. are considered "the Godfathers of South African metal".
After incessant performances, underground tape compilation appearances and several demo effort releases, the band strikes it big by signing to German record label Morbid Records in 1995. Watershed album "Bloedrivier" (Afrikaans for "Blood River") was released the following year. V.O.D. toured through much of Europe, finally returning back home to play at the 1998 Oppikoppi and 1999 Woodstock festivals.
The group disbanded in 1999 (with March 2009 having seen a reunion tour).
Members have included vocalists Neil "The Viking", Stewart Hendry and finally Francois Breytenbach Blom; drummers Neil "Thunder", Dangerous Dan Dion and Paul André Blom; Johan De Jager on 2nd guitar (for a short period); Radley Clack (Wacky Clacky Radley) and Diccon Harper on bass duties; with the only constant being guitarist Greg McEwan Marriott.
(from a discogs page dedicated to them)
Not to be confused with the US ambient/EBM band Voice of Destruction that released an album titled Black are the Souls of the Damned with a pentagram on the cover.
According to the band's official website, Voice of Destruction reunited for one month in March 2009 for a nationwide farewell tour in South Africa. Also, it is reported that a DVD entitled The V.O.D Archives Vol. II: Live '93 & Europe '95-'96 has been set to be released in late March/early April.
From 2009, the band is no longer active, even if they didn't split up officially, however the band announced in June of 2014 that they will perform a reunion show at Witchfest Festival in 2015.
(from Encyclopedia Metallum)

UNCLE VINNIE-The Fucking Complete Uncle Vinnie-(Non Music Productions-South Africa-199?)

Another mistery tape.Uncle Vinnie comes from Oostersee in South Africa and that`s all I know about them. There is very little info on the cover sleeve.
They play a personal form of experimental music with normal instruments and weird voices with funny lyrics-somehow they remind me some stuff by Butthole Surfers although more minimal and more crazy.
The recording is pretty good and the cover sleeve is pretty nice too.
Anybody out there who knows more about them?
A great tape for cabaret lovers of the weird genius and the beast hidden into us...
Enjoy it.
ps-this tape is not indexed.

VOICE OF DESTRUCTION-A Wot Demo-(Self Released-c30- South Africa-1987)

Voice Of Destruction started around late 1985 early 1986 if I remember correctly. A wot demo their first recording was recorded I'd say 1987. They were to my eyes and ears the most influential and constant Cape Town hardcore punk band. They were a feature of the infamous ARTIES underground (literally and figuratively) alternative pub. They played with various punk, goth and metal bands, doing at least 2 tours to jo'burg and at least 2 massive battle of the bands shows at university of Cape Town, playing with the likes of NO FRIENDS OF HARRY and ATTIC MUSE drawing about 1000-1500 people at these shows. It has to be said that I am talking about early V.O.D. (late 80's-early 90's), as the band slowly progressed to a crossover band uniting the punk and metal scene in Cape Town. As bands had come and gone V.O.D would continue to play and progress to a heavier metal influence through the 1990's to 2000's. Greg the guitarist would remain the only original member as new members from various metal bands would join. Dickens on bass and the Blom brothers would now be the constant members on vocals and drums, continuing this new format of one of South Africa's most important alternative bands.
The new V.O.D grew and became ever more popular. I am surprised that this really important demo from the earlier days of the band has almost been lost, but here it is, enjoy.

KOOS-The walkman tapes-(Sound Action-South Africa-1990)

Unknown to the most Koos from  South Africa were active in the 80s playing avant-gard and art rock remind us lots of east European experimental bands of the  late 80s.
This tape is entirely recorded with a walkman tape recorder and  a single microphone,no over-dubbings and post effects were added to these recordings, making  this tape a masterpiece of art rock in its core, essential and hard to listen yet genuine.
It was eventually released on Sound Action, little and creative tape label from South Africa.Nijgh & Van Ditmar ‎from Holland released a full cd  of this band back in 2006
This tape is not indexed.
For you into adventures of weird sounds.
Joyful no sense art rock and post avantgard muzik.
