ORIGAMI REPLIKA-Ka/Skader-Tracks & Traumas From The Replika Tapes 96-91-( Jazzassin Records+Major Ego Produkt-Norway-1996)

Origami Replika was started by Boe in 1992, the first release being an unplayable scratched 7" with a 23-minute cassette, and other tapes soon to follow. In -94 Boe presented the Origami Replika short movie "how to blow up anything in ten easy lessons" with live soundtrack by him with members of Red Harvest and Dunkelheit. In -95 Kjell Braaten and Boe did a gig, including a live remix of Swans' "Soundtracks for the blind" album before it was released. Boe continued to make a shitload of cassettes, including splits with several international activists on the noise scene.

In -96 Lasse Marhaug appeared for the first time and helped Boe master the best of the cassettes onto a cd entitled "Ka/skader". They continued to do a lot of records, cassettes and broken objects. The most known might be the CDs of Merzbow and Kapotte Muziek remixes. The whole thing culminated in two month-long tours in -97 and -98, effectively ending by Marhaug going to see Spice Girls, and Boe went to see Bob Dylan.

Origami Replika was then already taken over and ruined by Per Olav Jørgensen (aka Major Ego) and partly Judge Replika, stealing all their stuff and putting the SchMerzPønkDaDa suffix on everything the REAL replikans did. This issue has never been solved but generated a lot of confusing media attention, resulted in a cd that was published as a 7", an LP, several CDRs and tons of cassettes and compilation entries.

Marhaug quit, Boe, did one last job with Kai Kobi Mikalsen supporting Merzbow in -98 with a folk flute and cassette cover crushing ritual. The last of the old gigs starred Kim Xmazz who chopped headset cables and smashed a ghetto-blaster with an axe in a Madonna remix he did with Boe on national broadcasting. In addition to singing in his own band Nomad Nipples, Mr Xmazz did vocal performances with Lasse Marhaug Band and I quit ! in those days, and has later starred with Boe in various cameos, Boe made a lathe cut 7" and a cd as "The Nordic Miracle" with Marhaug.

The Origami Replika name was bought by John Hegre of Jazzkammer in 2000, thus they are not allowed to perform or publish anywhere in Norway the continent. Most important; they are back as a trio, with their performance "15 minutes of flame", based on ignorant cut-upping of old material, and new wonderful songs.

(When asked about a web page, Kim Xmazz commented: "Origami Replika can not breathe within the confines of the internet".)from their official webpage.
Jazzassin Records was started in 1996 and ended in 2002. Never intended as a "proper" label, but more as a playground for whatever sounds and in whatever packaging I desired to put out. Some of the releases remain available, although most in low quantities. There will be no repressings once sold out (unless someone wishes to reissue anything).
Major Ego Produkt was a label/production company obviously run by Major Ego A777 (real name Per Oscar Jørgensen) to secure 100% artistic and economic freedom within the framework of Origami Republika/KomKol Autoprod.

HEKATE SOUND SYSTEM-History-(UK-1996/2019)

I have been attending a few fantastic parties organized by this amazing sound system and I have been thinking to write something about Hekate for quite a while now, yet I only had fragmented info and not enough stuff to make a comprehensive post about it.
Luckily I have met Luke Hekate lately and he kindly agreed to help me passing me links, pics and writing an introduction.
Today I am really happy to be able to make this post including some amazing videos about their history and experiences developed in more than 20 years of activity.
Here a very interesting interview to Dan Hekate broadcasted on Resonance FM in 2006 for their 10 years anniversary + a small intro written by Luke and few other great gifts.
I keep my writing short, my gratitude to Luke and all the Hekate Krew for their help and collaboration.
Enjoy it.

Hekate Sound System
A Pan European Art and Music Collective that has been running for over 22 years.
Originating in London in the mid-1990s as a response to the more straightforward musical genres in the rave scene; Hekate Krew brought their dark, hard-edged weirdness to the party. A stage for experimentation, a place for art and sculpture that went beyond.
Expanding out into art events and concerts and plays the collective was never happy simply to turn up and play a few Spiral tunes, what was on offer was always fresh and varied.

Spending the next decade travelling the wastelands, Hekate spent summers helping run Teknivals across both Eastern and Western Europe.  Plotting up in Spain, Italy and France over the winter periods to do parties and exhibitions.

On their return to Britain, they were involved in the Reclaim the Streets, Temporary Autonomous Art events and Synthetic Circus parties.

Over the years they have run a variety of record labels Coven-H, Hex, Anamonia, Spine recordings and New Skin.

The Hekate krew have gone on to become teachers, filmmakers and even robot engineers. Although their output has slowed down a release on Praxis (No. 57) and Rxstinz is imminent for The Wirebug.

The next Hekate party will be in Berlin May 11th 2019 alongside Menthal and Workin Klass Noize.

SCUM OF SOCIETY-Violenza Legale-(AZ Autoproduzioni-Italy-1996)

First 7 inch by this crust punk combo from Latina, I have already posted their demo self-released in 1994.
This piece of vinyl offers us the same cruse violent d-beat punk
with political messages and angry vocals.
8 tracks well recorded and well played exploding rage and rebellion.
It came out with a folded cover sleeve reporting lyrics and poilitical writings in English and Italian in a very punk graphic layout. (scans included here)
Az Autoproduzioni was a small label from Pavia(Northern Italy)that started releasing a  zine called Astro Zombies from which they took the name AZ. They were into anarcho-punk and libertarian books and zines.
I have posted their very first cassette production, you`ll find it here.
Enjoy it.

Kryptästhesie-Inner Whirl-(Delerium Records-UK-1996)

I have already presented this band when I posted their amazing double lp Shaken By The Sun.
Their psychedelic music has a very personal approach and this cd confirm this theory even more. The fantasy flow explodes in millions of colourful particles surrounding us!
For all the lovers of some kind of obscure psych-acid rock, this is a band to discover and love.
To finish I am including here a video of their late life.
A big Thanx to Dante D. for passing me this great cd as flac files,yeah...
Enjoy it.

EXTINCTION OF MANKIND-Live At MKNZ-(Atomic Fart-Slovenja-1996)

Another amazing recording at the MKNZ in Slovenia, this place hosted quite a few good punk bands during the 90s and the live recordings of these gigs are just wonderful.
I have already posted the demo by Extinction Of Mankind, on their official webpage you`ll be able to read their long history, gig, discography, news and more.
Formed in 1992 and still alive and kicking this band has made, definitely, history in this genre with a huge following of passionate fans worldwide.
This tape is crafted with powerful tunes showing us their destructive force as a killer live act.
Very good recording and song titles in the cover sleeve.
A great live tape.

Vomit A Sbreghe Balon/I Rabiosi-Meglio Sotto Terra Che Su Un'Italia Di Merda-(Split Tape-Tocai Recs-Italy-1996)

With lo-fi recordings and some political lyrics, those 2 bands from Udine share a cassette taped with a  home-recorder in an illegal rehearsal room. They pressed more than 100 copies, the first 100 are hand numbered. The folded cover sleeve reports lyrics, thanx, info and few pics.
They both play a kind of minimal HC Punk, somehow melodic, only apparently demented yet funny.
Enjoy it.

KIND IM GARTEN-kind Im Garten-(EE Tapes-Belgium-1996)

Kind Im Garten was a project created by Inox Kapell and Stefan Heinze.
In this 90 minutes cassette, they play a sort of mix`n`mash of styles going thru some electro, drone, minimal and avantgarde spazzed out jingles.

I have posted many tapes by this amazing Belgian label, it is still active and here you`ll find their webpage.
Enjoy it.

AUS ROTTEN-Live At MKNZ-(Atomic Fart-Slovenija-1996)

Great cassette documenting a powerful gig by the mighty Aus Rotten...the live recording is just perfect.
Few info from a Wikipedia page about them.
" Aus-Rotten was an American crust punk band active from 1991 to 2001 formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Part of the DIY underground, its members practiced and promoted a philosophy of anarchist politics. The band included lead vocalist Dave Trenga, vocalist/guitarist Eric Good, bassist Corey Lyons, and drummer Matt Garabedian. Spitboy singer Adrienne Droogas would often join the band in their later material. The band's name comes from the German word ausrotten, which translates to "extermination" or "eradication".
Enjoy this gig, very well captured with an excellent recording.

BENDER-Jehovas Allstars-(Words Of Warning-UK-1996)

There are few bands with this name, this is the British band active in the 90s and this album is the follow up to their debut album Lost City Of Dalston.
They play a crossover genre mixing hip-hop, ska-punk, and funky/reggae passages. They remind me very much the style of Rage Against The Machine.
The cd comes with a nice booklet reporting lyrics and pictures.
Enjoy it.

MiSMAS-Untitled-(Snait-Italy-1996)

There are very few info on the cover sleeve of this tape yet quite few things make me conclude that this band (or project) is somehow strictly tied to the band Inzirli, band already covered in this blog.
Same town, same dialect used to sing some songs, the handwriting on the actual tape,Snait is the same label that released the very first ep by Inzirli and eventaully the last song on the B side of this tape called, in fact ,Inzirli.
As for the music expect personal and rhtymic/frantic off the edge HC Punk mixed with lots of different influences(rock,noise,folk...)!
A great cassette with an excellent recording.
If this is a side project by Inzirli or friends of them remains a mistery to me yet this is very enjoyable.
