TERMINUS & DAZ LLYOD - Live At Bentleys 18th Dec 86 -(TPPL-UK-1987)

The followers of this blog should be familar with Terminus,a band born in 1983 and active till 2001.I have,in fact, posted many of their tapes. I have been in touch with Mark (the singer-guitarist) for a few years now and he kindly passed to me some rare stuff both by Terminus and by other old artists, one of them being the fantastic Daz Lloyd.

I just want remind you all to visit their excellent webpage where you can read about their history, discography, gigs, friends and much more.Funny enough this tape is not listed in their webpage. It is, yet, a great tool documenting the energy and the passion coming out from their live shows.

A big Thanks to Mark for passing to me this great tape. Enjoy it.

Off With Her Head Promotions Flyer (UK-1991)

"The gig in question: Earth Citizens/ Pszychisz Terror/ Duckwind, The Queens Hotel, Scunthorpe, Saturday 25th May 1991

Two 'punk' bands from Switzerland, Pszychisz Terror, apparently, refused to open their luggage at customs and got turned back. "More Cider!" was Fritz, EC's guitarist's refrain between each song: Dry cider - the drink of the Gods he had just discovered and proceeded to drink to excess! Slotted in well with the locals.

Duckwind was a band formed from members from local psychedelic band Duck In Fog in order to play Hawkwind tracks; this included Col Spence on bass, who played in Terminus and was also a member of DIF before joining us - and Mick Hare on drums, obviously a Terminus drummer -  Rocky, also played guitar in DIF before playing in Terminus for a short while, and vocals would have been Graham Davis - DIF's vocalist.  "  (Mark Terminus)

DAZ LLOYD- The Circle-(Media Tapes-UK-1988) + Sic Syke-(Self Released-UK-1991)

Second Post about this amazing artists from Scunthorpe, I wrote about him last month when I posted  the tapes : Bill Of Rights and Stand Up And Be Counted.

The Circle was recorded and mixed at 'H.O.M.E. Studios' (on Daz's combined amp/twin cassette deck) March 1988 while Sic Syke was recorded and mixed on the Brougham Road  4-Track during the long and hard (finarr finarr!!!) winter of 90/91.

To make this post more informative I have asked his old mates to write some info about Daz. Unfortunately, he left this world very young. This post is dedicated to his memory and his excellent music. Big thanks to Mark for introducing me to such a great artist, to PJL for digitizing these old tapes and his nice words, and to his family for giving me permission to post his tapes here and on my Youtube channel.
Enjoy it.

 The Circle    Sic Syke

Darren Lloyd (or - like every guy given that first name - Daz to his mates) first appeared on a stage in March 1985 as guitarist in The Demised,
a band he'd co-founded in his native Scunthorpe the previous year.  That band revised and expanded its line-up shortly afterwards, subsequently changing
its name to Declaration, but made no serious headway before breaking up in April 1986.

Over the following couple of years Daz released three cassettes: 'Bill of Rights', 'Stand Up and Be Counted', and 'The Circle'; each was a genuine solo effort with
all vocals, guitars and bass by the man himself (the title of an instrumental on the second tape - "Wot No Drums" - was based on a common reaction to his approach
of those who'd heard its predecessor).  Daz also popped up at a number of local gigs during this period armed only with his guitar (and voice) in a Billy Bragg stylee, but all of this was only half of the picture.

While a stint as second guitarist with established Barton band Aki (soon after Declaration's split) didn't work out, Daz subsequently remained a member of Terminus
for long enough to appear on the first of that band's generous handful of records.  He also joined the 'enigmatic' (and mainly studio-based) Scunthorpe outfit Murderous Musicians,
while a friendship with London-based punk band The Apostles (initially kindled through the post) led to a series of visits to their Hackney HQ -
and an 'exchange visit' by the band's Dave 'LAMF' Fanning to Scunthorpe to appear alongside Daz (and former Declaration drummer Pete) in a one-off outfit named
after the beloved Monty Python skit, The Piranha Brothers.

By the early '90s Daz had moved to London, maintaining his association with The Apostles by recording a fourth tape - 'Sic Syke', now complete with drums! -
at their HQ (with Dave supplying cover art, and fellow Apostles Muzz and Andy providing percussive assistance); it seems that Daz and Dave also reassumed their Piranha alter egos on occasion.
Over the next few years our contact was scant, limited to when our paths happened to cross during Daz's visits to his family in Scunthorpe, but his permanent return home in August 1997 seemed
to hold much promise - for one thing, it seemed that a 'reunion' of the Murderous Musicians was being discussed before he'd even had the time to unpack his cases.

Instead, Daz's relocation to Scunthorpe was followed only a few weeks later by his tragic death; he was days short of his thirty-first birthday.  He is still,
and will always be, remembered fondly by friends, regarded highly by those who'd shared a stage with him at any point, and much missed by all who knew him.  Rock on, Daz.

DAZ LLOYD-Bill Of Rights-(TPPL/DAZ-UK-1986) + Stand Up And Be Counted -(Media Tapes-UK-1987)

This is the first post about Daz Lloyd, an amazing artist from Scunthorpe, involved in Terminus and The Apostoles. Daz wrote and recorded also his own music, leaving to us 4 great tapes.

TERMINUS-Hands Up For An Early Grave-[Re-Issue-Best Sound Quality]-(K7-TPPL-UK-1992)

I have posted this tape 9 years ago when I started this blog, that rip was not the best,so I finally re-digitised this tape and now you have a  better sound quality and since this tape is very difficult to find I decide to leave these tracks as waves.

The followers of this blog should know Terminus as I have, already, posted a few rarities by this amazing band. In fact, after posting this tape I got in touch with Mark(the singer & guitarist), who kindly passed on to me a few other tapes to share here.

For the people who missed all the other posts then I just copy and paste the introduction taken from their excellent webpage, I invite you to visit it to read more about this great band, you`ll find there interviews, discography, biography and more.

To finish this small introduction,a very big THANX to Mark for all his help and kindness.Enjoy this rare and fantastic tape, this time with great sound quality.

:f(a*r~a)w_a¬y click me

for those of you who don't already know (and that will be most of you I would think), TERMINUS are/ were a long serving 'punk-rock' band from the Steel Town of Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire and have been described
in the local press as anything from 'local rockers', 'indie-speed-doomsters' to (with tongue stuck firmly in cheek
)
a 'psychedelic biker band'! None of which fits with singer Mark Richardson's description of the band as "Punk Rock, not punk-rock."

Elsewhere, in fanzine reviews of gigs and records, comparisons have been drawn between such diverse bands as the Damned, Dead Kennedy's, Conflict, Naked Raygun, Bad Religion, "Motorhead meets the Mob", and "a cross between Hawkwind and the Subhumans." The vocals to such unlikely folk as Jake Thackary, Billy Bragg and Oi Polloi (in the same German review!), Dave Vanian and Animal (from Anti Nowhere League and again both in the same review) and even Richard Butler and Bauhaus! Needless to say the band themselves consider all such comparisons dubious and the possible result of alcohol abuse. More likely is the simple fact that, although charges of inconsistency and idleness would certainly stick, they could never be accused of being as musically one dimensional as many of their contemporaries.

What follows is a brief history of the band compiled by longest serving member and founder of the band, Mark, for the information of those who have and still show an interest in the bands past and, who knows, maybe present activities.

NO SANCTUARY Zine n20-Sept. 1993 + NO SANCTUARY Zine N21 Oct.1993-(Resistance Productions-Switzerland-1993)

No Sanctuary was another fanzine made by the 3 minds behind the label Resistance Productions active in Switzerland during the early 90s. I did post already quite few productions by this small yet very  nice and prolific label,so you just need to search this blog.
In the number 21 of their on-going fanzine you`ll find interviews to MDM,Jouni Of Sivullinen Artcore, articles about raw food and Kaval Diy Space in Greece+tons of fanzines and music reviews, while in the number 20 you can read a very good interview to Teminus
+articles about shock therapy, animal experiments and thoughts about their own label + more reviews and info.As far as I know Pablo started another label called Strongly Opposed when Resistance Prods ceased to exist.
Very interesting short but great fanzines.
Enjoy it.

TERMINUS-First Demo(TPPL-1984-UK)+Catalogue of Crimes(TPPL-1985-UK)+Body Count(TPPL-1986-UK)

I wrote already about Terminus when I posted the tape Hands Up For An Early Grave and after that post I managed to get in touch with Mark of Terminus and  exchange with him very interesting emails!
This is in fact the first post on this blog in which I am posting  some tapes that are not part of my collection,in fact those tapes were kindly donated to me by Mark and  were  digitalized by Pete(Terminus drummer) in 2003.
For the people who does not know Terminus, this was an amazing band from Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire(UK),active from 1983 until  2001!!
Somebody described their music as a creative mix between Political Asylum with Motorhead, not sure if they are happy with this definition anyway this do not apply to their acoustic songs so you might want to check yourself.
For all you curious people to know more then you can check their very good web site, here you can read about their biography, discography and interviews + more related issues.

On those tapes  you will find additional live tracks  that were not included on their original demos but were added later by Pete, you will find all the info in the folders,I just added the info that Mark included in his emails.
As far as I know those tapes are not available since quite a long time and I am very happy to have the possibility to share them  here.
A very big thanx to Mark  for his generosity and kindness and  a big thanx to Pete as well for the digital transfer`s work.
Enjoy it!!!!

TERMINUS -hands up for an early grave - (one side c60-diy-1991-UK)

Terminus was an English band active from mid 80s to mid 90s .They released few 7inches and 2 lps on Words of Warnings Records and TPPL Recs.
On 2003 a retro compilation came out as cd with the best of their songs.
This tape is totally diy, recorded live  in  their practise room with a 4 tracks recorder.
Their music is a clever form of classic melodic HC punk with political lyrics, this tape is instead acoustic and somehow reminds me some of classic english folk and some apocalyptic folk from the northern countries.
Yet it`s not listed on discogs and I never seen it on the net.
I reckon there are not so many copies of it around and it`s for me a little pearl of the underground from the 90s.
Enjoy it.
