THE OBSCENES-In The MIddle Of Nowhere-(Not On Label-Italy-1993)

A rather strange vinyl and project of which I have very little info, this is probably a one-off project by a duo from Chiavari in Liguria region(Northern Italy), amongst the thanx I have noticed the name: Mauro Guazzotti aka MGZ.

The music evolves in cut-ups, an hot-line phone call, cheap drum machine and broken electric guitars, backward vocals, strange synth passages, some no-sense noises and more asphyxiating jingles with a low-fi quality recording. As overall the deep abstract sense of nothingness is there to stay.

Some stuff is definitely kind of funny if you understand the Italian language.

Archbishop Kebab -Beyond Ma Ken-(Trottel Records-Hungary-1993)

The second LP by this original Scottish band, I have already posted their first album released in 1989.

Archbishop Kebab was a Scottish Avant-Hardcore collective formed in 1986 in Edinburgh. They had a 13-year life span up to 1999.
1989 saw the release of their first LP, produced by Tim Ellis (Jackdaw With Crowbar) and the start on the first of many European tours they shared with likeminded groups - a.o. The Ex, Dog Faced Hermans, Badgewearer, Dawson and the Stretchheads.
In 1993 they released their second LP 'Beyond Ma Ken' recorded in the studio of the Hungarian label Trottel Records.
Then came along 'Heeliegoleerie And Scunnered (but cheerie)' partly recorded in Italy; the final Album 'Bellyhunting', recorded in 1997. (info from Discogs).

In this album some crazy free jazz core influences take over their amazing post-no wave hardcore yet they remain an exquisite avant-guard phenomenon.

ANATOMIA N1-(Fanzine-UK-1993)

This is the first issue of Anatomia, a very good and long fanzine focused on death metal and related sub-genres.

In this issue interviews to Monolith, Xaztur, Naked Whipper, Thus Defiled, Imprecation, Lugubrious, Vomitory, Depravity, Nocturnal Rites, Sentenced, Malediction, Edge Of Sanity, House Of Husher, Embalmed, Pestigore, Gorefest, Suffer + quite a few small articles about new death metal bands, lots of  LPs, EPs and demo reviews and same rather very death graphics.  

Very well done with passion and love this is
only for death metalheads.

TELEPHERIQUE-Sound Object-(Ant-Zen-c46-Germany-1993)

The project Telepherique began in 1989 with the intention to explore processes and working with people of different cultures. They started with mail-art projects, co-operation, and communication with people all over the world. Basically, Telepherique is Klaus, Danijela and Rene Jochim, from Würzburg, Germany, but there were others that became members of Telepherique, because of the massive collaborations and projects: Ulf Harr, Echart Seilacher, Harry Lüftl, Stefan Au, Stefan Alt and Karin... The name Telepherique is the French word for the funicular railway. This name was chosen because of the intention of gaining a view from a higher level.

Ant-Zen is deduced from "Anti Zensur" (= anti-censorship).
Ant-Zen is the most important label in the newer German Industrial scene. It started in the early 90s as a tape label that later also released vinyl and CDs. Mastermind S.Alt (Stefan Alt) also did most of the layouts and packaging of the releases. While the earlier releases are more into noise, the new output has a more technoid style that is still very experimental.
Ant-Zen was the German distributor of a lot of other labels and ran a small mailorder until 2019 when they discontinued putting out physical releases and switched to all-digital.

PISSED PROUD-Pissed Proud-(Self Released-Italy-1993)

This is the only release by this band from Rome, active in the early 90s and playing a raw form of powerful HC punk! They were part of the anarcho-punk scene of the capital playing gigs in squats and spreading counter-information.In this cassette, they assault us with 8 tracks(+ 2 cover songs)of pure violent HC punk with a good recording yet a spartan cover sleeve with very few info.

To complete this post I am attaching here a video of one of their gig in which they share the stage with Oltraggio E Resistenza another @punk band from Rome, they were very good friends and often playing together,both bands had a short life yet they left a great legacy.

This tape and the video are definitely a piece of history of the @punx scene from Rome in the early 90s.

Raptured Ambitions n12-(Fanzine-UK-1993)

Rapture Ambitions was an anarcho-punk fanzine edited and distributed by Chris in Tavistock(Devon) during the early 90s.

In this issue good interviews to Chumbawamba, Maggot Slayer  Overdrive, P.M.T., The Sydneys, Academy 23 and Wat Tyler +  some reviews of zines and tapes.

v.a.-Punk Is...More Than The Government And Fashion Controlled Record Stores Offer-[Vol 7]-(Resistance Prods-Switzerland-c90-1993)

Another compilation of the series Punk is... a series already covered in this blog, as well as the label Resistance Productions managed by Lara, Pablo and FTS were active for 7 years releasing lots of stuff(7inches, tapes, zines, leaflets...).

As far as I know, Pablo started another label called Strongly Opposed when Resistance Prods ceased to exist.

It was compiled in June 1993 by Pablo! Songs ordered by Lara(of Örmaal Records) comes with 24 half sized page booklet with bands contributing a page each with lyrics, artwork etc., unfortunately not included here.

A good anarcho-punk compilation!Lots of good bands, political messages and good recordings.

CROMLECH-Descanting The Altered Dimension-(Self Released-Italy-1993)

"The Cromlech is an ancient group of stones consisting of one large flat stone supported by several vertical ones" from the Cambridge dictionary.

There are at the least a dozen bands with such name on the Encyclopedia Metallum yet this one is not listed there. 

This combo is, in fact, from southern Italy and plays a slow form of doom death metal, in this demo, they offer us 4 tracks accompanied by a spartan cover sleeve with few info.

PUNCHLINE-Read Our Lips-n12-(Magazine-USA-1993)

A fantastic issue of the legendary Punchline magazine,each number dedicated to a different subject.I have already posted the number 7.5"cop"the Number 5 "WARning" and The number 13 "Static Elect Trickery". plus N12 "Age Of Discover Up".

This is the number 14 "Read Our Lips", all dedicated to the subjects: sexism, machism, feminism and gender issues.

Created and assembled by John Yates-(I must give him a big thanx for giving me permission to post here those outstanding magazines)- and friends during the early 90s, in this issue excellent graphics works and a long article about alternative abortion methods. 
This is unquestionably a classic of the underground press from the 90s.

You`Re So Hideous[The "Pizza,Cider And Robots" Issue]-(Fanzine-UK-1993)

Another amazing issue of You`Re So Hideous punk fanzine created by Ben, who was previously managing the cool fanzine Raising Hell.
  Inside this, you`ll find interesting articles, scene reports, interviews with bands, reviews of cassettes and eps/lps and more great writings.
Very nice graphics work just like the proper old school zines.

TRANCE/DAVID S. HASTINGS-Unyielding Firmament/Toy Box[Split Tape](Sounds For Consciousness Rape-France-1993)

Trance is Mason Jones.The earliest musical entity begun by Mason was called Trance. Starting in 1987, recordings under the name Trance were released on a number of small-edition cassettes, followed by CDs and singles. As a live venture, Trance included other participants over the years, including Elden M., Annabel Lee, Sam Lohmann, and others. Live collaborations under the guise of Trance included shows with Jim O'Rourke, Joe Papa, The Evolution Control Committee, and many more. The name "Trance" was retired after the word became inextricably intertwined with bad electronic music.His actual webpage is here.

Sounds For Consciousness Rape is a defunct French label active in the early '90s in the industrial/noise area and well-known for its limited edition releases.

CCC CNC NCN-Proclami-(CD+7inch+Booklet Box-Nautilus-Italy-1993)

Another great production by the mighty CCC CNC NCN a radical collective from Torino(Northern Italy) coming from the anarchic/antagonist underground scene, combining old-school industrial sounds with conceptual records and live shows about unpopular topics, such as suicide as an extreme choice of freedom, mass control, and oppression.
I have already posted Performance Soundtracks 2005/6 
and their masterpiece album released in 1989 "Suidicio Modo D`Uso".
