NECROPHONIE N1-(Fanzine-France-2005)

The first and the only number of this amazing French zine all written in English! Very well done with long and interesting interviews to Lustmord, Jarl, MK9, Galeria Schallshutz, Nuit Et Brouillard, Citadel, Land:Fire, Propergol, Steel Hook Prostheses, Skm-Etr, Brethren, Barrikad, Kaos Kontrol label and Degenerate fanzine, Bestia Centauri, Somnambulant label, a good report about Providence Industrial festival 2003 + a section with loads of music reviews.

As I met in the virtual world the editor of this fantastic zine I asked him to write a small introduction for this post, A very big thanx to Nicolas for passing me his astonishing work and giving me permission to share it in this blog.

Here his words:"Conceived and assembled from 2003 to 2005, copied and sold in 2006, 200 copies print run. Prior to doing this zine, I was somehow boycotting computers and the internet - to make it, I began to get involved with computers and the internet. That was when social networks (especially early Myspace) began their conquest... I got drowned in this shit, thus there has never been an issue two. The world smothered in even more absurdity."

To complete this post I am attaching the first page with his editorial written back in 2004.

I believe this is a real gem for the lovers of the independent press about post-industrial music and related subjects.

AFGHANISTAN-Autodafe 95-(Self Released-France-1995)

Afghanistan is the astonishing project by the French artist Philip Chasset-a Discogs pages about him is here unfortunately with no much info about his activities.

 In this great tape-work, Phil plays a raw form of electro-industrial. His cover version of The Wall by Pink Floyd is simply amazing.

 This is an amazing tape for people into electro/cold wave and industrial music.

EX SIP-Down Under-(Art Total-France-1988)

Ex Sip was an experimental/ambient project formed by Eugène Pudgoray and Norbert Pudgoray in 1988. This tape is crafted with 22 tracks of great minimal ambient.

TRANCE/DAVID S. HASTINGS-Unyielding Firmament/Toy Box[Split Tape](Sounds For Consciousness Rape-France-1993)

Trance is Mason Jones.The earliest musical entity begun by Mason was called Trance. Starting in 1987, recordings under the name Trance were released on a number of small-edition cassettes, followed by CDs and singles. As a live venture, Trance included other participants over the years, including Elden M., Annabel Lee, Sam Lohmann, and others. Live collaborations under the guise of Trance included shows with Jim O'Rourke, Joe Papa, The Evolution Control Committee, and many more. The name "Trance" was retired after the word became inextricably intertwined with bad electronic music.His actual webpage is here.

Sounds For Consciousness Rape is a defunct French label active in the early '90s in the industrial/noise area and well-known for its limited edition releases.

VP 231 was a small French label run by Pierre Jolivet (Pacific 231) during the 1980s.Its current webpage is here,where this tape appears to be his very first release and out of print now.

HANDS TO-Toumani-(Sounds For Consciuosness Rape-France-c60-1990)

As Hands To American artist Jeph Jerman has spent many years manipulating field recordings, creating fogs of opaque sound. Hands To uses electronic techniques to manipulate source material derived from the natural elements.This material was originally released on Mose Wreck (side A) and Christage (side B). Remixed December 1989 for release in Europe.

Sounds For Consciousness Rape is a defunct French label active in the early '90s in the industrial/noise area and well-known for its limited edition releases.Label covered on this blog already few times.

FLAGRANTS D`ELI-Un Certain Regard...D`Espoir ?-(Self Released-France-1991)

Flagrants D`Eli was a French Anarco-punk band from Epernon, formed in 1986.They released lots of tapes and few 7inches.Their music is a strange form of lo-wi avantgarde experimental punk with a very personal touch.

Definitely, a band that deserves the attention of people into weird punk, interesting lyrics, and strange passages.

TROMATISM-Une Saison En Enfer-(Active Distribution-UK-2000)

"Tromatism was a French punk band formed by Loran (formerly a member of Bérurier Noir and also Ze6). The band was famous for their live theatrical performances and on-stage visual arts.
While using some esoteric musical elements like drum machines, violins and flutes combined with anarcho punk influence, the band sounded hardcore and its lyrics had an emphasis on politics,specific issues like veganism, ecology, vivisection, anti-violence, colonialism and, homosexuality. They played in squats and defended such a way of life and existence by participating in open resistance against eviction and government intrusion.The group was active between 1993 to 1998,specific going on numerous tours and releasing two EPs (titled "K7 live" in 1993 and "Je ne veux plus avoir mal", roughly translated to "I don't want to suffer any longer" in 1994) and one full length LP in 2000 (titled "Une saison en enfer", roughly translated to "A season in hell). 
Apparently, the LP is still readily obtainable in Bourges, France (We doubt this! -jon active) where the singer is said to still reside and is actively involved in the punk scene.

Tromatism split in 1999 but individual members of the group are still active in the French punk, music and art community as phenomenal musicians,
performers ,and respected political punks."(Info from Active distribution web site)

This is one of the best French band that I ever saw live, their performances were just stunning and powerful leaving the audience in an haze of astonishment and  joy.Tribal electro punk with many messages,I am including here some videos as I think you should really watch their live actions.A wikipedia page in French  is here.This lp is a great release too.

EVIDENCE-From the Heart`s Grave-(Not On Label-France-c60-1993)

Amazing 60 minutes cassette by this french duo(?)playing a theatrical  form of goth/electro opera music,excellent recordings quality and few info on the colver sleeve.

This is definetely for people into dark melodies for cloudy paths towards circles of rising stars and decaying satellites.

INCENSE-(Fanzine-France-1992[?])

Here another amazing fanzine by Cyril Herry , I already spoke about him when I posted the zine Le Journal Des Ruines ,the tape Ashes To Ashes and the compilation tape  Anywhere Out Of World.
His label was called Incense just like this fanzine which was one of his first productions,as far as I recall.

It is a very beatiful B/W fanzine with poetries + reports about the bands:Avec Mordor,Misanthrope (in French only) and astonishing pictures.

"The First Incense Paper is about many dark forms,about memories and strange people...It was a lots of work of photography...you can`t read the poetries but the pictures speak like words...I am calling your imagination to use  your deep mind,I hope you like it." those are few words written by Cyril in his letter that came with this great fanzine.

Amazing double cd compilation + a well done fanzine of 68 pages(A4 b/w) with info about the bands and a long article about the history of the anarcopunk scene in France.

This article is translated into english and spanish and you can read it here, on the same webpage more info about this compilation and related projects.

The 2 cds of this long sampler offer us a wide view of the big anarcopunk scene in France spanning two decades(1984-2006)!The graphix layout is very nice providing lots of info,only in french language but you`ll find some translations on that page.

A precious and very useful document digging into the history of counter-culture and punk music with an attitude.
