Θάνατος Αρχίζει –Γιατί -Λαυχατατάθλιψη [Thanatos Archizei / Begins the Death - Giati / Why - Lauchatathlipsi]-(Fanzine-Greece-198?)

Very rare Greek fanzines from the last century.

These zines were made by the band Mavra Idanika (Black Ideals) from Athens.

Aesthetically very close to some graphic works of bands such as Crass and Rudimentary Peni as well as the messages contained in these great collages.

Thanatos Archizei(Death Begins) contains

graphics works and texts against the army, (nuclear) wars and religions.

Giati(Why) delivers to us some lyrics by Mavra Idanika + messages against prisons/asylums, state violence, family violence, veganism and animal liberation.

Laukatathlipsi offers us contents about sex and gender, religion, the voting system + political parties, animal exploitation and some music reviews. 

These amazing fanzines were printed around the early and mid-80s and are true evidence of the anarcho-punk movement in the Greek capital during these years.

My gratitude to Ionas of E.T.C. label for passing me these 3 obscure pearls from the deep Greek underground scene and for translating their main messages.

Arcadia Party Flyers-(Graphic/Flyers-UK-1998/1999)

Here two flyers of the mighty Arcadia Parties held in 1998 and 1999. Arcadia was a very special fetish party supporting the Sexual Freedom Coalition.

I spoke about this organization already 2 times when I posted  Their annual Report 96/97 and Book Of Delights the booklet they were giving away at the people taking part in their Sex Maniac Ball in 2003.

The Sexual Freedom Coalition (SFC) is a pro-sex campaign organization and political pressure group based in the United Kingdom that challenges the laws which take away the sexual freedoms of consenting adults and also challenges the media and official bodies that show disrespect for sex.
The Sexual Freedom Coalition is a national UK voluntary organization whose aim is to campaign for sensible reform of Britain's antiquated and repressive laws concerning consensual sexual practice between consenting adults and ensure no new laws creep in to prevent consenting adults enjoying sexual freedom.
The Sexual Freedom Coalition was formed in April 1996 by a group of people who decided that sex clubs such as Whiplash should not be raided and the 10th Sex Maniac's Charity Ball should not have been stopped by the police, putting its charity at financial risk.
A march was organized starting in Soho and ending at 10 Downing Street where a petition "Sex Please We're British" was presented to the Prime Minister.
Since then, there have been many triumphs and the phrase "the sexual freedom of consenting adults" has become commonly used. The SFC is consulted by the Home Office and the press and is unique in the world. They have joined together with Outsiders and the Erotic Awards to hold conferences and events to allow campaigners to network and work together.
They are a member of Backlash, which was formed in 2005 in order to oppose a new law criminalizing possession of "extreme pornography". (from Wikipedia)

ZONE n01-(Fanzine-UK-2016)

A short fanzine with lots of black and white drawings, it includes a short story and the rest is just nice weird drawings.

This is the first issue and I am not sure if there have been more issues printed after it. 

Sometimes there are little collages added making these drawings even more interesting.

 I am posting here a little sample.

I think it is a very nice short zine full of good artworks.

Optional Flesh-(Fanzine-Matching Head-UK-199?)

Another weird graphic experiment by the genius Lee Stokoe covered in this blog for few of his fanzines and many of his tapes as noise artist Culver mostly released on his own label  Matching Head.

A label that seems to be still alive and kicking.

Lee called this zine "a Matching Head audio/visual scribbles production".

Messages From The World Body (Text-Graphix-1999 Italian-2014 English-Unreleased)

This was originally written for an Italian fanzine back in 1999,that zine was never released,my friend Babs provided the english translation and my friend X.One worked out a nice graphic idea for the english version.

Future Vision 2015 (Thoughts/Words)

As first post for this year that just started I am writing few thoughts that I want to share.

I started this blog on Dec.2013 with the  intention to post as much as possible mixing mail art,videos,music,zines and graphix.

I think I managed to achieve what I had in my mind at that time.

As future vision for this year I see myself less involved in all those activities- scanning old fanzines and converting tapes into digital takes lots of time and at the moment I am busy with other projects and my travels too.To all the people whom got in touch with me via email or with their comments I  can only say I am happy to know somebody out there appreciate my efforts here.

I did notice quite few people are using my original rips (taken from here or from the other blogs I used to co-operate with) for their YouTube Channels or blogs-almost everybody didn`t care to write a note to say where they did find those rips neither a simple "thanx",I would have appreciate one word or 2 of gratitude.
I still have lots of stuff to share but at the moment I do not have the time-Time is the Enemy,as always...
To all the friends who supported me in keeping this blog alive I send you all a very big thanx,I am not writing down all your names but you know who you are.

Open Your Eyes...Think...and Act(flyer-graphix,vegetarian propaganda-90s)

A leaflet that was circulating in the mail network of fanzines and diy productions during the 90s.

I do not know who made it,I am quite sure I saw it also screen-printed on  t-shirt.

A  strong yet short and"straight to the point" statement pro-vegetarianism.

Boredom Images,Personal Zine-n10(fanzine-UK-1996)

I already spoke about Ade L Vice when I posted Boredom Images fanzines,this is another creation by the same mail artist and zine maker.If Boredom Images was just  nice graphix and great collages with mail art mixed within this is instead her personal zine,you will still find amazing graphic works but the main issues here are her personal writings.
As introduction to this very good fanzine I am going to attach here the first page of this number.Yes, Ade L Vice makes a very good  "review" of it and it is probably better of what I can write.

Sivullinen n17 and n19 (fanzine,Finland -1995/1996)

I wrote about  Sivullinen International Newsletter.
Those ones insted are 2 issues of the fanzine with the same name,published  by Jouni Waarakangas in Helsinki(Finland)!!!
Jouni was collecting artworks from different artists around the world and printing this beatiful zines in a print-run of 1000 copies.
Those 2 numbers are packed with black and white art-works,graphix,drawings,strange poems,weird comics,poetries and more random thoughts.
This is a classic from the underground press of the 90s and  if you are into zines then you should not miss those ones.
Very good and funny, those zines are really priceless.

Annie Sprinkle with Kimberly Silver - My Body Is A Temple For A Multimedia Whore (fanzine-graphix,Usa-199?)

Annie M. Sprinkle (born Ellen F. Steinberg on July 23, 1954) is an American sex educator, former prostitute,^[1][2] stripper, pornographic actress, cable television host, porn magazine editor, writer and sex film producer. She received a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in 1986 and earned a degree in human sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco in 1992.^[3] Currently, Sprinkle works as a performance artist and sex educator. Sprinkle, who describes herself as "ecosexual",^[4] married her long-time partner, Beth Stephens, in Canada on January 14, 2007.

INCENSE -Le Journal Des Ruines-(Fanzine-March 1994-France)

Le Journal Des Ruines is a small zine edited and  distributed by Cyril Herry who was managing Incense tape label back in the 90s.He also was playing in Exotoendo,Salamandre and few other projects.Here his blog about graphix and pictures.

This zine is made of poetries about the ruins and it contains very nice pictures in black and white.It`s all photocopied but the quality is excellent,very good pics here.

The poetries are in French with English translations.

A very nice one :)

Mail Art project managed by Evan Griffiths who also was managing an independent DIY punk distro and publishing Gibbering Madness fanzine.

NO MORE SEXISM (graphix-art work-patch-1997)

This is a drawing by Raff of Contaminated Productions!It came out as a patch with the first 50 copies of  the double compilation No More Sexism compiled and released by Contaminated Productions in 1996.

A RIOT OF EMOTIONS n2 zine (graphix-fanzine- UK-1991)

"A Riot of Emotions" was a small zine published by Dark Diamonds back in the 90s. This issue in the number 2 and it came out in April 1992. It is a 40 pages A5 fanzine full of poetries, nice graphics artworks, reviews of zines and music productions.1000 copies as offset print were printed and distributed mostly via mail.

A nice fanzine for the lovers of the underground publications and creative graphics.

MadWoman Magazine-n2-summer 1991(graphix-fanzine)

Madwoman was a magazine published by SisterSerpents,a collective of women into graphix and  articles about women`s issues.
This is the number 2 of this magazine and it`s packed with graphix artworks,articles and letters of counter-culture and drawings.
Quite interesting and rare now days.
