HEX MINORA-Under A Pornographic Sun-(Pylon Recordings-UK-1997)

Another excellent tape by this female noise artist who also ran BV Tapes.   Already covered in this blog. This tape came out in a VHS box and include also a short interview although it is not specified where and when it was published.Recorded 1994/1995. Remixed 1995. Limited to 100 copies.
The music here is a cacophonous magma of dark sounds touching the quite noise, the dark ambient, some crystalline esoteric electronics and more obscure sexual hypnotic messages.
Pylon Recordings was a UK based noise label active in the mid-90s, now defunct.
An astonishing tape-work.
Enjoy it.

HOSTIA-All Is One-(Dark Vinyl Distribution-Germany-1997)

Hostia was one of the numerous projects by the German artist Paul Hostia. He also had other projects: Delysid, DLS, Helix 12, Moksha, Ordo Catharis Templi, Zoomorph.
With this album, Hostia delivers to us 4 tracks of powerful dark ambient including choirs, cavernous vocals, bizarre synth modulations, venomous pulsating drones, trumpets with a background of devilish and evocative sounds.
This is the lp version released on Dark Vinyl Records of the tape Alles Ist Eins which was originally released on cassette on the label O.C.T. in 1992. The vinyl had a print run of 449 copies.
Dark Vinyl Records is a veteran German label specialized in industrial, dark ambient and experimental music.
It is still active and you can check their webpage here.
Enjoy it.

v.a.-FLORALIA Vol 2-(On/Off Records-Italy-1997)

An amazing international compilation with very obscure bands/artists playing weird shoegaze, strange psychedelic rock, unhinged avant-garde, personal space rock, and similar acid jingles.
It came out with a little booklet reporting bands info and graphics works.
A little treat for people into acid musical voyages and joyful no-sense carnivals.
It was released by On/Off Records
Italian independent label from Spotorno (Savona); in 1998 changed the name in beware! RECORDS, continuing the same catalogue numbering.
A very big thanx to Dante D. for donating to this blog this little unknown gem as Flac files + this small interesting note about the sampler.
"Comparable to the better known Succour and Alms compilations, The Floralia series of four discs was released n Italy during the same period, and like Soccour these CDs featured similarity independent space & psych bands from across the globe.
Personal highlights from the second volume are Kryptasthesie`s spiralling teleportation raga(from Italy) and Tribe of Cro(launching from Belgium in a brief stellar cruise toward suspended animation).
Other guests include two of Jorge Beltransjam-bands, Humus(Mexico) and Frolic Froth(ex loch Ness).
The U.S. Texas arm of underground space-rock bands are represented by Iron Bong and Bag(both from the same dry heat that gave us Lithium X-Mas and ST 37).
Excerpts from Anna Nacher`s sacred cave meditations with the polish group Atman are also added, along with contributions from S/T and others you no-doubt know or will soon discover."
Enjoy it.

SIVULLINEN Newsletter 5/97-(Sivullinen-Finland-1997)

Another astonishing issue of this amazing newsletter:
Sivullinen was a newsletter edited by Jouni Waarakangas in Helsinki(Finland)!!!Jouni was printing in it everything that was coming out from the underground world. This newsletter had no borders!!!
We could find in its: news about zines, comics, tape labels, mail art, anarchist newspapers, poetries, short stories, experimental music, adverts for future compilation tapes, flyers of bands and their productions, mail art projects and whatever was related to all those subjects.
The graphics layout was messy and at the same time funny on one A6 size folded page or more pages.
It was printed 4 or 5 times at year in a print run of 1000 copies and it was free although a donation of stamps would have been always very appreciated.Jouni was into trading zines and cassette productions!!
Sivullinen was also a great fanzine created by Jouni and I have already posted few numbers as well as a couple of issues of this newsletter, you`ll find it all here.
Enjoy it.

TRIAL OF THE BOW-Rite Of Passage-(Release Entertainment-USA-1997)

Formed in late 1993 by Renato Gallina (percussion/vocals) and Matthew Skarajew (stringed instruments), Trial Of The Bow emerged from the city of Melbourne, Australia's heart and melting pot of all musical forms. While both members live and work in a metropolis, they strive to remove themselves and their listeners from this and transport them all to places exotic with their bared-down Eastern-inspired music.(from Discogs)
Trial Of The Bow is an Ambient/Neo-Folk/World Music project of two members of Australian Doom/Death act Disembowelment. This has a rare depth and integrity seldom found in most "side-projects", which suggests that this is no mere flirtation with sounds. Influences from various traditions around the world, including Arabic and Celtic, are melded into a whole that strongly recalls Dead Can Dance. Sensual tribal music from Australia, utilizing such instruments as the tamboura, manjira, and e-bow, which not only incorporates the mystical sounds which graced the band's debut, but also offers a further variety of vast musical styles.(from youtube)

TWILIGHT MEMORY-Outside Brain Inside My Room-(Slaughter Productions-Italy-1997)

TWILIGHT MEMORY is a project conceived and recorded in Piombino, Italy October 1994 August 1996 by MATTI. This project is dedicated to my pisspiss lost EUROPA and his sons, to all people in anxious, restless, unstable state of mind, waiting for the total end of our foolish civilized world. This recording is a sonic mental journey through an ordinary series of days in a lost European industrialized town, symbol of the glory and shame, fascination and death of our times. With thanks to Zairo, Feds and Kassandra Organisation.
(Note printed on the back of this tape)

Slaughter Productions was the label managed by Marco Corbelli aka Atrax Morgue, releasing mostly his own music and few other associated noise artists.
Enjoy it.

STATIC ICON-Slave-(Machinery Records-Germany-1997)

Static Icon is a synthpop band. They started in Adelaide, Australia as a three-piece band called "Das Concept". In their first incarnation, they were a Depeche Mode cover band. Gradually they introduced more and more original material into their set. To complete the transition to a fully original band, they changed their name to Static Icon and dropped all but one or two Depeche Mode covers from their set.
Through association with bands in the Melbourne, Australia industrial music scene they were introduced to and subsequently signed with EBM label Machinery Records in Berlin, Germany, with whom they released two albums, starting with Sin Machine in 1995.
Their first album was recorded in Adelaide, but there were some issues around the master tapes being stolen. Shortly after they moved to Berlin, Germany where much of the album was re-recorded.
Their second and best-known album Slave was produced by Marc Heal and released in 1997.
Static Icon toured the better part of 1997 with the "SLAVE TOUR" The breakdown of communication with the members and the record label resulted in the cancellation of the second leg of the European tour. The band needs their own personal space for a while. Alan Wicks moved to London where he would start writing the third Static Icon album. Timo Bishop married his German girlfriend and moved back to Adelaide, Australia and Micheal Walker moved back to Melbourne, Australia.
1998 saw Alan Wicks moving back to Australia to finish writing the third Album. Melbourne and Sydney both played their role along with London in his demoing this album, which was written about his own experience as a wide-eyed person that moves to a mega city and how he sees that our conditionings as humans and our ideas of right and wrong and our man-made laws and beliefs don't work with this new era of the Mega city life style. The album was finally demoed at the end of 1998 and was ready for to go into the studio to be completed. Noise records were desperate for the band's third Album to be released and were putting on the pressure to hand over the work to them.
