I have written already about this zine when I posted the number 5, this was the personal zine made by  Stuart Schaber in Portland back in the last decade. 

This is a short issue covering  a few subjects: involvement in the punk DIY scene, Thrashfest 2000, a few reviews and some cool pictures.

A very good fanzine published in Portland(California)at the beginning of this century.

A zine for Punks and Thrashers focused on hardcore punk, politics and political punk.

Interesting interviews and articles, lots of pics and a very punk graphic layout.

FURIA N4-(Fanzine-Finland-2004)

Short yet cool English written fanzine created and distributed by Diana Takehana in Finland in the early 2000s with the help of few good friends including Ben of You're So Hideous/Raising Hell zines.

In this issue London punk report, South America report,an interview with Inepsy, music and gigs reviews and some personal thoughts.

With a very punk graphic layout and some nice pics, this zine is pretty cool.

FALO n1-(Fanzine-Spain-2004)

Free fanzine edited in Barcelona in 2004 and focusing on/against the patriarchy from a masculine point of view, in fact, its subtitle is Masculine Liberation Against The Patriarchy.

Subjects studied here: Relationships amongst the genders, social backgrounds and sexual relationships, emotional emancipation, myths about the masculine orgasm and a few more related issues.

I have found this little free zine very interesting and well done.
Unfortunately, it is in Spanish language only!

WITCH n5-(Fanzine-Poland-2004)

A very good fanzine all in the English language although printed in Poland by a collective of women into riot girls/feminism, anarchism and music.

In this issue very interesting articles about anti-abortion laws in various countries, protests, riot girls around the world, Annie Sprinkles guideline for sex in the 90s, Karen Finley multi-cultural artist, Fuck Finger (band), an interview at the band CTB and other messages about gender-related subjects.

All in all a very good fanzine with amazing articles and a positive attitude.

INSOLENTES-Insolentes-(Dogma-Mexico-2004)

6 songs on each side in this short tape by this band from Mexico City,some songs as short as only 30 seconds...yeah this,at some point, is pure powerviolence with screamed vocals.

The lyrics are reported in the folded cover sleeve.(all the relevant scans provided in this folder).

MARERIDT-...Här Börjar Helvetet -(Plague Bearer Records-Denmark-2004)

Great cassette by this short-lived band from Denmark, apparentely they have out only 2 releases.

As the subtitle says you`ll find here 9 tracks of pure Raw Hardcore D-beat Crust, well played and well recorded too.It came out with a lyric insert.

Plague Bearer Records is a punk label from Copenhagen, Denmark, I am not sure if it is still active.

SABIR-Fones-(Self Released-Spain-2004)

"SABIR was the lingua franca spoken in the Mediterranean ports during the medieval times, a language based on Catalan, Greek and Arab elements among others.It was born like a kind of natural progression due to the socialising of the merchants for whom the sea had become their home; people from many different cultures who were shaping their need to be understood by means of this new born language.
SABIR gives us the image of the two furthest pillars in the Mediterranean sea: on the one part we have Greece, cradle of the Western civilisation, and on the other shore the Iberian land. Two places that define the ends of the sea shared by these two lands through which, from the ancient times, sailed the ships of merchants, pirates, romantic travellers and all kinds of adventurers. These people had turned sea shore settlements into culturally rich villages and were participating in this exchange of experiences and ways of understanding and living with other lands. In a similar way the three members of the Greek-Spanish group SABIR include into their repertoire traditional pieces from Mediterranean countries, as well as others which are original compositions but still strongly influenced by the traditional music of the Balkans, Persia, Greece, Flamenco or Western Medieval music.
In a concert of SABIR ancient and oriental modes are merged with asymmetric rhythms and improvisations performed with instruments such as the Indian tabla, the hurdy-gurdy (mediaeval bowed string instrument), flamenco guitar, the santoor (Persian psaltery), saz (Turkish lute) or the zarb (Persian percussion instrument).(from youtube)
As far as I know they are part of  L`ham De Foc   one of the leading groups of a new folk movement in Spain that works the traditional roots into a new modern music concept.

MARCEL HERMS & MARC VAN ELBURG-Feedback Distortion-(De Hondenkoekjesfabriek-Holland-2004)

Here the marvellous art-opera of the sublime duo Marc Van Elburg and Marcel Herms.
Expect noise,industrial,weird frequencies,odd loops and more genial passages.

It came in a very spacial folder with cartboard printed label and a 40-page booklet with 'art brut' drawings, packaged in a plastic sleeve.  

De Hondenkoekjesfabriek seems to be the label associated with the Dutch noise project called Fck'N'Bstrds*.

The booklet give us an insight of his own strange yet very nice drawings and art.
An exquisite piece of art-brut plastic+papers.

CRAPPY NIGHTMAREVILLE-Shadow Garden-(Miasmahaus Music BMI-Usa-2004)

Few years ago a friend passed me this amazing cd and I loved it.Looking for  permission to post it on my blog I got in touch with them via FB and after swapping few messages they sent me an introduction about this project and this nice cd.I have therefore give them a big thanx for giving me the OK to post it here and for this info.
"Crappy Nightmareville is an experimental music group formed in Louisville, KY in 1993 by Andrew Willis and Mike French, and populated over the years by a shifting cast of adventurous friends. Most of our work has been issued as very limited (frequently handmade) cassettes, CD-Rs, and a couple of 7” records. The pieces on Shadow Garden were recorded live in Louisville at the Butchertown Pub, Hemispheres, and the Rudyard Kipling, and cobbled together in 2004 as a sort of demo. Many of these pieces have continued to take more developed and elaborate forms as we work to assemble our first full-length studio album."
They are still playing and you can check their last activities on their Facebook page. 

For all the lovers of experimental improvised music mixing fantasy, creativity and a pure genial attitude without musical borders this cd is just great.

HUE & CRY-Ridiculously Masculine-(Self Released-Usa-2004)

Hue & Cry is an all female trio playing furious HC punk with political lyrics often with subjects  releated to women issues/sexism/anti-  macho politics.They remind me a lot of the Riot Girrls movement born in the end of the 90s.

If you are into the music of Bikini Kills,Tribe 8 and similar bands then you`ll like this demo.

 Well recorded and with a cover sleeve reporting  the lyrics,this demo is  a good one..

v.a-15 Years Anniversary CD-Profane Existence n45-(Magazine+Cd compilation-Usa-2004)

DIY punk rock collective formed in 1989 and based in the United States by Dan Siskind and a number of others. They run Profane Existence Records which releases anarcho-punk style releases from bands throughout the world. They also release "Profane Existence" magazine as well as operating Profane Existence Distribution.
The collective folded in 1998, although its distribution arm, then called Blackened Distribution, continued operating. They also put out a few releases under the label Aftermath to help pay off their debts. Profane Existence restarted in 2000.

JMEN FOUS-j`t` emmerde-(Cd-Self Released-Switzerland-2004)

This is the first cd by the mighty Jmen  Fous,a swiss band rising from the ashes of Headache.The guitarist Titi also involved with Mossuraya René Binamé and the singer  Max already singing with Headache  break here a  violent tension where screams and deviated guitar riffs joint the furious drumming by Simone.
A band spitting out words  and musical notes like a machinegun shooting at us personal and extrovert political lyrics(all listed in a  flyer included with the cd).

Suicidio Autonomo- #1 Spring 2004 - (Spain-Magazine-2004)

A very comprehensive magazine  with lots of various articles talking about the suicide without apologies or taboos.
It has 132 pages full of very interesting ideas/messages/articles and more stuff about the voluntary death,its meanings,some of very famous suicides,political prisoners contributions,philosophy and techniques for the self-annihilation.

I know they released a number 0 of this magazine before this issue,I`d love to read it.

All the articles here are copy left and free to re-use or let circulate.

I `ve heard that some of the people involved in this magazine they are now writing on this very good blog.

This is an excellent magazine about this  subject with lots of very in depth articles.

Only for people  speaking Spanish...

ESQUIZO-FRENIA-Robots Humanos-(cd-Co-production-Colombia-2004)

Esquizo-Frenia plays a violent form of HC punk mixing good doses of  emo-core and some political power-violence.Very well played and with some brutal vocals alternating  the screams and the stop and go they have few new fantasy points bringing some freshness to the usual HC punk style.

It seems it was released as co-production between few labels.Resistencia Recs,Sin Temores Recs,S.A.D. Recs,Direccion Positiva Recs and Paranoica,all Sounthern American punk labels.

For people into fast music and screams a go go...
