The project of the French composer Christian Renou, between musique concrete, sound collage and industrial noise. The project was on hiatus from 2000-2008, Renou releasing material under his own name. His official webpage is here.
The legendary New York industrial/experimental/electronic label audiofile Tapes was run by Carl Howard and active since the mid-1980s.
I  wrote about him quite a few time now. Here an interview  to him on Autoreverse Independent Music Magazine and another one on Media Hyperrel.org.

LUSTER-Ne Quid Nimis-(audiofile Tapes-c60-1996-Usa)+Abandon-(Vuzh Music-Usa-c80-1998)

Quite an interesting project here called LUSTER. The mind behind it is C.REIDER who is also the head of VUZH Music; a label active since the early 90s. C. Reider has collaborated with many artists and different projects [De Fabriek, Tarkatak, ] and also played in the bands: Drone Forest and Grook`d Finger. C. Reider was active in the underground cassette tape labels network back in the 90s and he has also been involved in music journalism; writing mainly for the magazines: Autoreverse and Mouthy. Luster is his solo project. the 1st tape “not named” was released in 1991(diy pre-Vuhz music), the 2nd tape “ne quid nimis” was released on Audiofile tapes in 1996, and the third (and final) tape “Abandon” was eventually released on Vuhz Music in 1998, and then re-released on cd-r in 2002. You can find more info about this project and all the other bands by C.Reider on his webpage here. Also I scanned the cover sleeve of both tapes where you`ll find more info about the music and the people who collaborated with him at the time. ”Abandon” came out with a nice small booklet (included here)where you`ll find plenty of info about those songs. About the music: soundscapes of grey and gritty quietnoise???? A touch of organic dream ambient??? maybe… call it as you like; this is inspiring stuff from my collection.(from Vita Ignes Corpus Lignum blog).
All the old releases on tapes are available as free download from his nice webapge. You will also read more about all those great tapes, lots of info provided there.
For all the lovers of meditative ambient and abstract relaxing noises.
Enjoy it.

"When you will have made him a body without organs,
then you will have delivered him from all his automatic reactions
and restored him to his true freedom"

- excerpt from the radio play by Antonin Artaud: "To Have Done with the Judgment of God" (1947)

Body Without Organs appear to have been: Carl Howard [Nomuzic/ Audiofile Tapes], Amaury Perez [Amor Fati/ Will To Live], and Richard Behrens.. Thee sonorism they created for this cassette seems to pay homage to Isis: thee protectress ov thee dead whose mournfull tears for her husband/brother Osiris [thee god ov thee dead who was murdered by his brother Set] were said to flood thee Nile annually, and unto thee ibis or baboon headed Thoth: thee heart [intelligence] and tongue [voice] ov thee sun god Ra.. Their sonorism was a very unique creation steeped in many esoteric references which shall be attempted at being dealt with here..

She-Women of the SS - begins and continues through it's entirety with beauteous analog sequencing ala early Tangerine Dream which is met with recordings of accounts ov thee brutalising actions ov female SS officers towards prisoners of war during thee second world war..

Vanishing Pentagram - tis composed from elements ov minimal elektronik beats, swirling and undulating analog synthesis, and esoteric vocal chanting which carry for over eight minutes with few references decipherable aside from mentioning ov thee left hand/ right hand, and ov flames, the pentgram, and the six-rayed star .. ending with a repetitive delayed shifting "amen"..

I am in hell - begins with fast pulsating synthesis which pitches down in speed, and drops out momentarily to reappear with thee restrained elektronik thump ov a beat and sparse dissonant elektronik guitar.. all ov this tis amidst vocalisations calling out: "daddy.. who's calling me? it is my child.. i will come back, but i am not alive.. I am dead .. I am in hell, but i did not understand why.. when i found out it was too late.. my dearly friend one day you will see me again.. listen to me because it may be too late.. you will die like me.. i implore you to go back away from here.. please go back.." there follow strange samples ov a child's voice and barely decipherable speech sounding like radio transmissions from dead soldiers.. the piece continues for a total duration over ten minutes with thee looping phrases "we are not sure what is happening" and "I am in hell" to be met with sounds ov explosions and a fading away..

Dada Kabalah - begins with a discussion about magickal thinking [versus diagnosis ov paranoid schizophrenia], and Artaud and Rimbaud's theory of the seer.. through reading ov incantations capabale ov producing magickal results capable ov changing life through obtaining supernatural vision ov altered prophesy.. it continues to speak ov thee effects of premature aging upon Artaud with his death at thee age ov 52.. following this un-cited discussion the twanging ov strings play over the unspooling/ reversing/ speed-shifting sounds ov tape manipulation amid reverb soaked vocals: "Dada Kabalah / chanting Hebrew numbers in darkened closets / touching copies of time magazine and weeping over Marilyn Monroe / seeping sex / Dada Kabalah / through subway cars / an unholy group of figures / laughing at naked baboons sucking on bananas / Dada Kabalah / being burned at the stake / walking planks / a labrynth of the americas / labrynth trains railing across night / flocks of angels and sacrificial ash / Dada Kabalah / scribbling deranged graffiti on glass houses / trapped in homemade statues and wicker waste baskets / Dada Kabalah / [undecipherable] and frozen objects [undecipherable] chinese torment / horrible dreams / questions and answers / Dada Kabalah / [undecipherable] ancient manuscripts and trying to draw down this powerless pre-packaged spiritus omni interuptus in hellenistic solitude / dada kabalah / will the dream never end? / left to crawl through tenaments, bathrooms, and crumbling royal cabinets / Dada Kabalah / hermetic monks leading [undecipherable] to take the [undecipherable] / registers on time belt as yet [undecipherable] breach of law / Dada Kabalah / down through the celestial spirits who truely believe this in awe.. " more unspooling/ reversing/ speed-shifting sounds ov tape manipulated vocalisations end this piece..

Alchemy I - sonicly tis composed ov trancing repetitious low-end synth droning over which is spoken: "we are now in a position to understand what alchemy is. we might even go further to say even if we had not heard of it we must know what it must be. let me summarise by saying that alchemy includes as many possible operations as there are conventional [undecipherable] inherent in nature. think ov substance as symoblic of the whole course of nature. make it god and consume it. the highest form of the eucharyst is that in which the element consecrated is one. it is one substance and not two, not living and not dead, neither liquid nor solid, neither hot nor cold, neither male nor female. the highest sacrament is that of one element. it is universal in it's operation according to the declared purpose of the work. so will the result be. it is the universal key of all magick. think ov substance as symoblic of the whole course of nature. make it god and consume it. it is one substance and not two, not living and not dead, neither liquid nor solid, neither hot nor cold, neither male nor female..

Alchemy II - follows in a similar instrumental form ov sonorously droning synth over which there is a minimal percussive sequencing and strange tremelo like undulations ov elektronikx with a very decayed and restrained feel about it ending with an ouroboros ov tailing delay..

Osiris Rises begins with a sample voicing thee words: "let the divine light descend!!" what follows is amasing esoteric body music with elektro sequencing ala Peter Baumann.. spoken through vocoder: "in the beach in distant lands held aloft your godly hands in the beach in distant seas Osiris rises upon thee. carrying the greater one held up high for all to see. Osiris rises upon thee.. he sent your corpse upon the seas. wrestling deep in foreign lands. on the beach in the sand he severed off your godly hands. on the beach in distant lands cutting off your godly hands.. on the beach in distant seas Osiris rises upon thee.." much ov thee remaining vocals are difficult to decipher due to thee use ov vocoding.. towards thee end the sequencing shifts; going through various speed manipulations becoming cacophonous, and ending in the clattering ov bells..

the final piece of thee cassette tis: The Market, and it is composed ov danceable droning synth syncopated with sparse percussive accents, and tis layered through with undecipherable glitching vocal utterances and minimal synth lines.. towards the end much ov the sound begins to slow and decay with strange analog synth twittering and shifting until fading away..

MAGIC MOMENTS AT TWLIGHT TIME-Live At Alpha Nebuli IV-(audiofile Tapes -USA-1992-c90)

Magic Moments At Twilight Time were Mick Magic: guitar, synths, sequencer, PCM rhythms and FX, Lulu: vocals and keyboards on "Pandora", and Pete Program: synth FX.
This tape was recorded live at Alpha Nebuli IV and it  is a work of pure genius:great weird electro space-rock mixing dancefloor music and psycho sci-fi lyrics.
I just discover they actually re-formed and so here you`ll find their actual webpage with info, history, soundcloud, facebook, news ,links, contact zones and much more.
This tape is a classic from the past and  it came out on the legendary audiofile Tapes  managed by Carl Howard.
Enjoy it.

MAEROR TRI-Venenum-(audiofile Tapes-Usa-c60-1992)

Maeror Tri was an ambient, noise and drone music band from Germany founded in the 1980s which consisted of Stefan "Baraka H" Knappe, Martin "GLIT[s]CH" Gitschel and Helge Siehl.
They used only live instruments to produce music with enormous amount of effects applied. They disbanded in the late 1990s after releasing a number of limited-edition records. They released music on labels such as Old Europa Cafe, Ant-Zen, Staalplaat, and Soleilmoon.
Stefan and Martin continued under the name of Troum, while Helge is recording as Tausendschoen. Stefan Knappe is also the founder and owner of Drone Records.(from wikipedia)
The legendary New York industrial/experimental/electronic label audifile Tapes was run by Carl Howard and active since the mid-1980s.
I  wrote about him quite few time now. Here an interview  to him on Autoreverse Indipendent Music Magazine and another one on Media Hyperrel.org.
This tape was re-printed as cd by the french UNE (R)ecords in 1999.
If I do not fail the original copies distributed by audiofile tapes had a different front colour cover each one.
This is a masterpiece of drone industrial ambient music.

VIKTIMIZED KARCASS-Traumatized-(audiofile Tapes+Harsh Reality Music-Usa-1987)+VIKTIMIZED KARCASS-30 Feet Tall-(EE Tapes-Belgium-c60-1992)

2  amazing cassettes by this crazy post rock experimental band from Usa,Viktimized Karcass were

Chris Phinney, Mike Jackson, Richard Martin, Robert Henson, Roger Moneymaker, and Chris Phinney used to run a tape label which is considered a milestone of the cassette culture of the  wonderful  80s.
The famous Harsh Reality Music that   produced about 300 releases, including numerous compilations as well as material by the likes of Big City Orchestra, Violence And The Sacred, and Nomuzic
Audiofile Tapes  is another legendary tape label from the same old days  based in New York and managed by Carl Howard,
I spoke about him and his label already in this blog.
30 Feet tall was released in a limited edition of 100 copies by another great tape label: the Belgian EE Tapes
managed by  Eriek Van Havere.
I consider both tapes  very good
and I can only suggest you  all to listen to them, especially if you do not know this amazing band.

Some rather interesting esoteric elektronikx here from this South African projekt paying homage to thee recumbent lion with human head: thee Sphinx!! this cassette was released on thee label Audiofile Tapes which was run by Carl Howard who was also a member ov Body Without Organs!!
For thee first side ov thee cassette thee lineup tis listed as: Joe da Silva: guitar, keyboard/ Fynn 23: keyboard, Clem Mudie: organ and vocals, and Jay Scott: keyboard, electronics & mix.. Cannot even figure out how to use thee proper accent mark to search for info behind thee title for thee first track which consists ov an interesting organ progression, ethereal synth drones, psychedelic guitar work, and beatific operatic feminine vocals!! yet again perplexed how to properly utilise thee accent marks for seeking thee info behind thee second piece which consists ov interesting trancing synth work with additional strange elektronikx techniques and feminine vocal incantations!!"Kamarupa, also called Pragjyotisha, was the first historical kingdom in Assam that existed between the 4th to the 12th century CE. Ruled by three dynasties from their capitals in present-day Guwahati and Tezpur, it covered the entire Brahmaputra river valley and, at times, North Bengal and parts of Bangladesh.Though the historical kingdom disappeared by 12th century to be replaced by smaller political entities, the notion of Kamarupa persisted and ancient and medieval chroniclers continued to call this region by this name. Coins of Alauddin Hussain Shah, who invaded the Kamata Kingdom in the late 15th century, called the region Kamru or Kamrud. In the 16th century the Ahom kingdom came into prominence and assumed for itself the political and territorial legacy of the Kamarupa kingdom. The name of this kingdom survives in Kamrup, a present-day district in Assam."sonicly this track consists ov more unique trancing synthesizer workx which last for a duration ov over fifteen minutes!!absolute consists ov more unique analog synthesizer progression with some wierd reversed vocalisations occasionally interspersed throughout..for thee second side ov thee cassette thee lineup tis listed as: Joe da Silva: keyboard/ Paul Roussouw: keyboard, Alan Thwaites: Octopad percussion, and Jay Scott: keyboards, electronics & mix..this side tis one long session which tis semi-reminiscent ov both olde Tangerine Dream and Popul Vuh!!

LORD LITTER-The Place Where Worlds Collide-(1984-1992) [c60 Joukkomurha Productions] + -Space Age- (C60-Audiofile Tapes,Usa-1989)

It is  difficult to write about Lord Litter  because he`s been around for a long time in the european underground scene producing a large amount of tapes+cds, he has been collaborating with  many artists and also he is a very skilled dj involved in few radio stations since long time.
Here his own website where you will find all the useful info about him,his past productions, the collaborations and his  recent activities

Those two tapes are old and are not listed on his webpage.

"The place where worlds collide" is a selection of released and unreleased songs  from 1984 untill 1992,edited and distributed by Joukkomurha Productions in Finland in the mid 90s.
"Space Age" is a cassette released by the legendary Audiofile Tapes (Usa) in 1989.
Both tapes bring us his own personal style of writing and producing music and if one might be close to some  "summer of love" music of the late 60s the other  is instead   near to the space rock of certain low-fi movies in the late 70s.
All in all Lord Litter is  a weird genius of our time passing throu different layers of counter-culture and crossing the borders of time and space to deliver us a creative  and innovative music that  stands on its own.
A must for the lovers of original music.
