ATARAXIA-Arazzi-(Energeia-Italy-1993)

Ataraxia is an Italian neoclassical Goth opera[1] band who combine modern technology with archaic instrumentation over various media. They describe their music as a cross "between sacred and profane, ethereal and neo-classical, contemporary and early music". They make researches into the European legends crossing the Greek and Latin myths. Their lyrics are written in many ancient and contemporary languages. Many of their performances take place in locations the band believes to possess specific spiritual qualities. Since the beginning of the group in the late 1980s, they have released more than 20 original LPs.(from wikipedia)
They are still alive and kicking and their webpage is here.
The first edition of this tape was included in a blue fabric bag, with a 22 pages booklet in black & white. All the scans provided here.
I already posted their very first tape Prophetia.
Energeia was a gothic, experimental, industrial and modern classical label and mail order based in Napoli, Italy.
Founded by Davide Morgera (drummer for Underage, cult hardcore punk band from Naples) and Antonio Escalona.
I am not sure if this label is still active.
Enjoy it.
Ps-this rip is been updated on 24th Jan. 2016-it is much better than the previous one.

FOLLORUM ENSAMBLE-Sabba-(Double Cd-Self Released-Italy-2000)

This idea has led the group to a lively and spontaneous interpretation – though always faithful to the spirit of the time – of the musical document and it’s in this sense that streets seem like the right stalls to where ancient music returns to be free popular expression and re-establish that archaic contact (that lost communion) with the people. Moreover, the vast musical repertoire, as well as the flexibility characterizing the Ensemble, enable the group to perform into theatres or concert halls, without proving contradictory, but keeping its purposes unaltered.(from their FB Page)
I already posted one cd by them, here that post. This is their facebook page  and here their official webpage.
Enjoy it.

COMPAGNIA DELL`ASINO CHE PORTA LA CROCE-Onni Diletto E Ogni Bel Piacere-(Enrosadira Recs-Italy-1999)

This is one of the best cd of medieval and renaissance music from my collection,Compagnia Dell`Asino Che Porta La Croce comes from Modena(Northen Italy) and they are active since the mid 90s.
They play a wonderful mix of sacred and profane ancient tunes, different musicians played with them,in this cd there is the amazing collaboration with Renzo Ruggiero, also involved in Follorum Enslamble and Arkitesi, both projects already covered in this blog.
This is for the lovers of medieval music played with ancient instruments by professional musicians.
A very nice cd hard to find now days...
Enjoy It.

MUSA-Inni Funerei-(P.C.R.+B:C.N.-Italy-199?-c70)

Very interesting project this italian trio called Musa.It seems to be all  girls(although nicknames might be misleading) playing clarinet, flute, drums, computer, synth and mixing renaissance music with electro goth.
I do not know much about them and the labels that co-released this tape-there is little info on the cover-sleve and no addresses. The recording is pretty good and the graphic layout is nice too.

FOLLORUM ENSEMBLE-musiche dall`altro medioevo (cd-r -diy-1997-Italy-)

Follorum Ensemble is a band from Puglia (Southern Italy),they were born in Foggia but later expanded their line up collaborating  with other musicians from that area. They are still active nowdays but the line up changed quite a few times since  they started back in the 90s,This cd is old and  it`s not available any longer.
When they started they were using the little chapel in the Ex Cim Occupato  in Foggia as practise room(Ex Cim was a big squatted hospital  with a little chapel-church in it)
They often played benefit gigs in this squat and during the summer they were often taking part to festivals and street parties .
Their music is a classic example of medieval music played with  ancient instruments. And they are definitely masters of those instruments.
Enjoy it.
